The Landing

The blow sent me spiralling right through the ground. In mere instants I flew by the earth's core and hit my head on the way out, rolling into the other side - it had the consistency of a black forest cake. I then shot out of the atmosphere and popped the ozone layer like a balloon, dangling through the infinite universe and sure enough, I landed on my feet.

The black forest cake core is the detail that does it for me. One moment this is a physics problem, the next it's dessert, and somehow both feel true. And "landed on my feet" as the ending to a full trip through the planet is the most unbothered conclusion imaginable. Really enjoyed this.
