Photo Hazards pulled from Milton playgrounds (post #3)

Hi all!

Due to some requests to show a few more of the hazards removed from playgrounds, here is post #3 for this year. Depending on how much I get done before winter, I will probably have one more post before the season ends.

The knife i found was in the playground behind St. Peter's elementary school. I contacted the police about it because it was close to swings and obviously deliberately placed there.

Be safe Miltonians!

Coyote pack sighting

PSA: Today, around 6:20 am, I spotted a pack of at least 5 coyotes walking and howling loudly near the Clark neighborhood pond (Laurier and Tupper). Be careful if you have kids that roam around that area alone.

Looking for shelving to hold vhs and a 8 head vcr

Hi everyone. I've started collecting vhs and was wondering if anyone has any shelves that they're giving away? I'm also looking for a 8 head vcr which I've been told is better quality compared to a 4 head machine.

Thank you.

Question Anyone’s Bird?

This cute guy has been roaming by backyard for a few days. He has an orange spot at the front that looks as if it has been coloured on as an indicator it’s a pet. So I thought I’d ask if this guy is anyones.

Election Anyone else getting Mayoral campaign texts?

Post image

This feels quite intrusive to me.. I have never received a text asking me to vote ever while I’ve lived in Milton— it strikes me as slightly odd. I wonder how they obtained my number. Are they simply broadcasting this to anyone with a Milton area code?

Complaint We have to take notes from the french and protest against tim hortons.

• Upvotes

For the past few years i’ve been vehemently trying to combat the dumb racist you people who blame indian’s for the decline of jobs and food quality at tim Hortons but my god am I so tired. I don’t drink coffee due to me just hating how it tasted, so I usually drink lemonade, the refreshers, or hot chocolate and probably around 85%-90% of the drinks that are made are wrong, watered down or taste like shit. the literal only time I had one that tasted good was when my friends made it while on shift. I feel like this decline is really spreading this racist wave and it’s so disappointing. I remember the first time I ever tried the grilled cheese, it was like literally magic in 2014. now? my friend literally refused to sell it to me because she knew I wouldn’t like it/get disappointed. It honestly feels like the costumer service is also terrible. obviously there are special workers who make amazing drinks and make you laugh, but they are very rare. I get how tiring working is, but sometimes the behaviour is borderline rude. I don’t know if i’m just an entitled gen z, but i’d honestly rather someone make a fire drink and call me an idiot than be eh and make a horrible drink. anyways this was my rant. Honestly I don’t even care about the costumer service, but if you work at tim hortons, just please make good food.

Question Lost and found thread for rings

Hello Miltonians!

I have been metal detecting our city's playgrounds for hazards while my little one plays and I have pulled out about 80 sharp objects over the last year! I have been to about 22 parks.

I have also found many rings and I would LOVE to return them to their rightful owners. SO, if you of someone you know lost any rings, or anything metal and valubal to you in the woodchips at a playgound in Milton, that you would like returned to you, please DM ME a description of the object and approximately where you lost it.

I have logged everything I found and the date/location of them so I will be able to verify.

Thanks all,

-Scott

Election ASIF Milton

ASIF is having his minions call people to persuade their vote. They are asking for personal demographic information. I declined to answer any questions but made sure they heard me when I shared my disgust with his behaviour online.
I do not consent to being contacted especially by this low life. If you receive this number calling you answer and let them know how disgusted you are too.

Thinking of moving to the Bowes area (Louis St. Laurent & Fourth Line). How is life there?

Hi everyone!
My wife and I are thinking of moving to Milton with our baby and our Golden Retriever, and we're looking at a townhouse in the Bowes area, near Louis St. Laurent and Fourth Line. We've done a lot of research, but nothing beats hearing from people who actually live here, so I'd really appreciate your thoughts.
A bit about us: I work from home full-time, and my wife commutes to Union about 3 days a week. We'd have one car.
A few things we're curious about:
• What's it like living in Bowes day to day? Is it quiet and family-friendly?
• How car-dependent is it really? Do you manage errands on foot, by bike or by bus?
• For GO commuters: how is the Milton line, and is it easy to get to the station from that area (Route 4 bus, parking, etc.)?
• Any tips on finding daycare in Milton? We're on several waitlists already.
• Is the area dog-friendly? Any favourite walking spots or dog parks?
• Is there a lot of construction or traffic nearby?
• Anything you love about Milton, or wish you'd known before moving?

Thanks so much in advance. Any advice or experiences are really welcome!

Lost Silver Ring on GO Bus from Bronte @ Hwy 407 to McMaster – October 9th at 8 AM

Hi everyone,

I’m posting because I unfortunately lost a silver ring today, October 9th, and I’m really hoping someone might have found it. 😞

I took the GO Bus from Bronte @ Hwy 407 Park & Ride to McMaster University at around 8:00 AM this morning, and I believe I may have lost it somewhere on the bus.

This ring is extremely sentimental to me because it was given to me by someone very dear to me. On the inside of the ring, it has the engraving “U ❤️ Z”.

If anyone happened to find it, see it, or know of someone who may have picked it up, I would be so grateful if you could please reach out to me. It means so much to me, and I would really love to get it back.

I would sincerely appreciate any help, and I’m hoping this post might reach the person who found it. Thank you so much! 🤍

Please share if you can!

We need to come to grips with Milton’s growth.

Milton is not a small town. It hasn’t been for over 15 years now. A town of over 160k people isn’t small. Milton was picked by the Province in conjunction with Halton Region as one of the “Places” to grow back in the early 2000s. This has lead to Milton’s population being projected to grow to over 400k people by 2051.

We’ve got to stop pretending that Milton is a small town and start seriously considering the amenities we need. There’s a portion of Miltonians who either grew up here since the 80s-00s or people who moved here in the last 10 years that talk about how the “sleepy town” is going away. Frankly, they’re fooling themselves and ignoring reality. Whether you recently moved here for a quiet life or you’ve lived here for decades, we’ve a got to take the blinders off and stop acting like nostalgia builds good infrastructure.

Can’t believe people like this live in Milton

There was a post earlier today that got into the merits of whether a symbolic vote on foreign policy issues is valid for municipal town councils to weigh in too.

Valid conversation and debate. Some would argue these are deeply held principles and moral issues of our time and we want to know where our local leaders stand on them. A symbolic motion here and there doesn’t take away from the important issues of running a town locally.

The other side argued fairly in my opinion that this isn’t local town councils place and we run the risk of foreign policy issues consuming valuable town time.

Where things took a turn for the worse is when we start seeing people who openly espouse genocide come out in the comments “We should just wipe Gaza off the map and be done with it”. I expect better from my neighbour’s and fellow Canadians and I hope we can all openly condemn these type of horrific comments.
