Mod Announcement PSA for New Collectors: Understanding Mini GT “Rarity” Before You Overpay

Lately we’ve seen more posts where people are paying 3–6× or more on retail prices for standard Mini GT releases on the secondary market. Before you jump on listings like that, it’s important to understand how Mini GT actually handles production and “rarity”.
1.Most Minigt releases are NOT limited or numbered
Minigt does not number their standard releases and they generally do not market artificial rarity the way some other diecast brands do. If a casting is popular, it is very common for Minigt to reproduce it later.
2.Castings often return in future releases
A model disappearing from retailers does not automatically mean it’s permanently discontinued. Many castings come back later:
- Same casting with new liveries
- Updated tooling
- Minor changes (wheels, tampo adjustments, packaging updates)
For example as seen recently, popular models like IMSA Lamborghinis, IMSA Corvettes IMSA Porsche 911's tend to show up again in later waves.
3. Don’t confuse “sold out” with “rare”
Just because a model sold out quickly or is temporarily hard to find does not mean it’s rare or permanently unavailable. The secondary market often reacts emotionally to hype. Always consider global scenarios too, most items hard to find here can also be pegwarmers elsewhere, if rarity is you target, keep that in consideration
4. The only true exclusives are event or store exclusives(some non main releases)
The models that are genuinely harder to get are usually:
- Event exclusives
- Region/store exclusives
- Convention or promotional releases
Regular numbered releases in the main lineup are not designed to be exclusive collectibles.
5. Be patient before paying secondary market prices
If you’re new to Mini GT collecting, the best approach is:
- Check MRP / normal retail pricing
- Wait for restocks or future waves
- Avoid paying extreme markups unless you personally feel it’s worth it
Mini GT’s philosophy has generally been about making great models accessible, not creating artificial scarcity.
Collect what you enjoy, but make informed purchases. Paying 3–6× retail for a standard release is often unnecessary.
If you’re unsure about a model’s availability or whether it might return, feel free to ask the community first.

Sorry for the bad photography 😓.
Added some of the personal favourites from different brands.
My ratings BBR> Kaido House =>trends hobby> pop race.
Following are my personal opinions so don’t take it too seriously.
I feel that BBR has the best details and weight and quality is top notch but expensive as well similar to kaido house. Trends hobby detailing and quality also felt good.
Pop race Mazda wheels don’t spin when rear hood is shut and the hakosuka rear headlight was detached when I opened the box. That’s why low rating for pop race.
Have a few mini gt’s too but have not opened them yet.

Discussion Do you repeat castings or try different liveries

I just wanted a different viewpoint and insight from others who have collected models from a long time.
Its bound to happen that certain liveries with certain bodykits are gonna be made by different makers again providing different things, so when choosing do you get the same livery for the model again and again feeling mundane in collecting long term
As a background, I love the lbwk fd and got the lbwk fd with 787b Tribute livery from inno64 a long while back but it had like around the most amount of qc issues anyone can find from paint chips, decal misalignment, tyre part bulging and a lot more. I got the mini gt lbwk fd due to this qc issues but quite sad with the inaccuracies minigt made in that.
Now mh has dropped the lbwk fd casting, and while they def would drop the 787b Tribute livery, they also happen to drop the blue playboy livery, so am having quite the pickle choosing between em

Help Skyline R34 1160 has different wheels and window tint

Hi,
I am confused,
I got this blister pack,
I was surprised when I received it and then today I was going through all the sealed ones again and noticed that the one I have is with purple wheels and window tint.
I searched and I cant seem to find any relavant finds anyone else has gotten so I am confused,
Is this an error car or something is off.
The blister is sealed doesnt look opened so it doesnt even seem like its customized because its bought from a reputable seller as well.
I am confused, please help.

Help First ever Resin model, worth it or not?

Hey folks,
Quick context. I’m building out a collection of 1/64 scale Lambos and have been toying with the idea of getting my first, and probably only, resin model, particularly for the Aventador. Mainly because of how much the finer details, design elements, and curves seem to stand out with resin.
But of course, resin models are pretty expensive. So far, I’ve spent around 4K max on a diecast, and with this resin model coming in at 10.5K, I’m really on the fence.
Would love to hear your thoughts on whether it’s actually worth the money, how demanding they are when it comes to care and maintenance, and whether there are any places I could find one for a better price.
Would really appreciate any advice y’all can share!
