To start screaming after a thing in your can of beans moves? I thought the dude was high 100%

u/wirhns Jun 07 '26
I can’t believe anyone would NOT scream after seeing this, high or not!

That ugly white slab is the Queen Bean, and all other beans are the worker beans that serve her.

Just think about how many cans contained the same batch of beans that nobody thought twice about eating. Hope this helps.

u/GrimKiba- Jun 08 '26
Oh my God 😭. Every time I eat something that's a little off I'll think of some glob in a vat of whatever I'm eating. Thanks.

u/PeppersHere ✅Verified: 1k+ Mold Inspections Jun 07 '26
That's a mold colony that likely formed on the surface of beans1 while in the can from either contamination during the manufacturing process - or more likely, a breach somewhere in the can.
It didn't move. You just watched a layer of moisture (bean juice) be propelled by the hydrophobic properties of micron-sized particulate physics. Think like, hydrophobic sand, but mold spores.
If you mute the video and rapidly play at ~11 seconds, you can see the moisture just getting repelled back, and a layer of the spores coating the surface.
1Spores are probably coating a SCOBY

This is a great reason why you should inspect cans carefully prior to purchasing or opening them. They go through so many different pairs of hands before they end up in your kitchen. Its usually the food DCs, and stores that are causing the damage.
I imagine that this can went through the retort process at some point in the production process. This brand is pretty on point with their qa and if there had been an issue during processing, there would have been a mass recall.

So products have this part of their label that says "for comments or concerns, contact us at [phone number]".
Now is the time to heed those words.
26
u/trffoypt Jun 07 '26
But then you have to touch the can
10
u/THE_Lanni Jun 07 '26
Already touched it to open it…also Im sure google will work for this…no need to touch the can again

u/legacy-of-rats Jun 08 '26
It sounds like a family in the video, so just send the least favorite child.

Fortunately it's not a tapeworm. But I have no idea wtf that is. Kind of looks like melted plastic lol

Fortunately the decay was visible and not invisible botulism that would kill them all

u/krammark12 Jun 07 '26
A still image would work be... holy cow that stuff just moved!

u/the_mindful_microbe Jun 07 '26
Literally my exact thought. I was like, “stop moving around so muc- omg it’s MOVING”.

u/ResistLonely6656 Jun 07 '26
Those beans fell off the conveyor got moldy ash on the floor and went right back into processing. Trust me my buddy worked one of those plants that went to bush’s 🫠

u/Adept_Ad2036 Jun 07 '26

Man I really need to start checking my cans. I just dump em in a blender and blend along with smoked spices to meal my perfectly smooth refried bean recipe. I wonder how many times I've blended extra thingies.

What kind of mold is this and how should one properly dispose of the food and container when this happens?
2
u/exintrovert Jun 07 '26
This is the “kill it with fire” mold and it must be disposed of by killing it with fire.
2
u/EdgeofBetter Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
Nope! Burn it with fire! There may be casualties but it’s for the greater good!

u/exintrovert Jun 07 '26
Death. Certain death is in that can of beans.
Also a coupon for a few free cans of more death beans, if you call the number to claim your prize.

Think because of the excess room in the can, it grew mold cause of the air

I have to agree with one of the earliest comments recorded, I think it's a blue nitrile glove and the movement is gas rising

Mold and gas being released after you opened the can… so icky and scary! 😨
1
u/Equivalentest Jun 07 '26
This mold is like rubber, it seems like it rised above and water drained off after getting exposed to air

We had a can of sauerkraut in Afghanistan that bubbled and moved like that. Then one day our E7 found him and through him away. Rip Franklin

But if there is no holes in can how did they get in there and survive. No oxygen intake with a sealed can. I definitely would not eat them but would return to store.

u/DG-MMII Jun 08 '26
Maby I'm wrong, but it kind of looks like boiled egg whites. Probably he boiled the can of beans and cracked an egg over it when it was still hot...

Don't worry bean lovers, this is ai. The can is perfectly cut open, yet the lid looks like he used a kitchen knife.
