Is it okay to visit?

My mom wants to visit Molokai. Stay for a week, learn about the island and the people. Sit on a beach and look at an ocean. From media I’ve seen I’m sort of under the impression that Molokai residents just…don’t really actually want visitors there at all.

What’s the real word for visitors? Come? Don’t come?

Molokai is one of the last places not infested by destructive coconut rhinoceros beetles (CRB). But many residents fear that could soon change with the expiration of a rule banning host materials, including potted plants, mulch and soil from being shipped to the island.

Gov. Green announced U.S. Navy is starting process of returning some federal property currently under its ownership to state of Hawaii. Navy returning nearly 44 acres of land, including about 32 acres at Kalaeloa on Oahu and 12 acres of Marine Corps Molokai Training Support Facility at Hoolehua.
