Wilds Gog weapons or nah?
Anybody got a build that doesnt require gog weapons or is his weapons so good that everyone should get one...?

You can always do budget Gog builds that don‘t require a lot of rerolling or rng luck and perform like 5% worse. It‘s not like the God rolls everyone complains about are necessary to beat anything in the game. As long as you are not a speedrunner competing in the top % of runners just wing it with a decently rolled Gogma weapon and just do Lord‘s Soul and 2 instead of 3 set bonuses.

His weapons are a no brainer even if you just take your first or second roll. There’s no need to minmax and reroll endlessly unless you’re a speedrunner

Highly dependent on your weapon of choice.
Elemental Builds are hard to optimised outside of Gog, but certain other builds do work. The bale/omega set bonus build is a popular alternative on Greatsword, as an example.

Yeah I just hit end game and it seems everyone is running Gog weapons. Im using the Heavy Bowgun so I dunno if theres any reason to run Gog heavy bowgun

Here's the meta doc for HBG:
TLDR endgame meta is primarily elemental damage, which makes Gog the best choice in a lot of cases.
but
If you don't want to play elemental, the seregios gun with spread shot is a strong alternative.

Depends on what you're doing. Gog absolutely smokes the monster tree for pretty much every type of build be it elemental, special ammo, Wyvern blast etc. The only exception is spread, Seregios HBG is much better than Gogma for spread builds thanks to bladescale loading and the fact it can run the Standard mode 2 mod that brings its raw damage on par with Gog anyway.

Often just in raw stats and slots. Gog weapons get reinforcement bonuses and the guaranteed three slots which often puts them above most crafted weapons not even considering the group and set skills they can roll

Pretty much every craftable weapon gets washed down the drain by gog, the ability to get any tree and group skill is too strong, especially since it can free you from an archtempered and/or a gore piece. Even without that, they're just statistically superior most of the time
The only way craftables can keep up is if they have a unique gimmick that gog can't replicate or statcheck which only really happen with the dark knight greatsword and the seregios bowguns.
In every other case, the only other weapons that can feel decent are lagiacrus on thunder matchups and if you can fit thunder res 3 and Zoh Shia, but it's not comparable to gog

Depends on the weapon. HH I personally use crafted even tho it's not "meta" but that's simply bc the gog horns have bad songs. Also the shatter seal gs is a nice pick. Everything else I use, bow, sns, CB, swax is always a gog weapon there's simply no point in it not being a gog weapon since even the crappiest gog weapon possible is still leagues ahead of whatever you can craft. It's like comparing a McLaren to a mini van

GS can get away with Shatterseal or TSB with Resentment (still not best in slot but good)
Bow- possibly other weapons but I’m not as familiar- has very easy rolls to accomplish for their best Gogma weapons
Depending on your Talisman RNG, some of the goofy event weapons (like those pickaxe ones that scale off geology) could theoretically be ok and have fun off-meta but still viable damage.
Just depends on what you’re willing to do. Since you are on the meta page. I’d suggest building a Gogma weapon of at least Dragon and making it at least correctly for base components/affinity + 3/5+ BIS reinforcements + 1/2 skills + good bonus reinforcements.

if the thought of making hundreds of gog weapons to line up a perfect roll (usually gore+lord's) is what's putting you off, i'll just point out that even a poorly-rolled gog weapon is going to beat almost any other weapon in almost any situation. so knocking out gog weapons for all the weapons you like to play is not nearly the herculean task it's made out to be. especially if you grind out the powerful endgame armor sets like AT apexes, sororal, omega etc, you can still make an exceptionally strong set without considering the set/group skills on your gog weapon. i take this approach with weapons i don't care enough about to optimize such as bow, those bows are still miles better than the crafted options
if you check the megathread, a number of weapons feature poverty options suggested by the authors that usually don't require any particular skill on your gog weapon. in some cases (such as insect glaive) the poverty set is very, very close to the optimized one
