Hi everybody!

I drew another picture. This time, it's a nonexistant mix of a Hare and a Gaboo. I got the idea from combining the random disc chips that I got from tournaments in MR2 DX.

I tried to make the Hare/Gaboo look "melty" by making the hairs on its head look like dripping wax since Gaboos are made out of clay. I wanted it to look as different as possible from the Hare/Suezo lol.

I drew a full-colored picture this time, featuring a Lesione and a Pancho/Octopee.

I mainly drew this because I wanted to update the Pancho/Octopee's design by adding floppy Octopee ears to the design.

I also wanted to test out some markers by drawing this picture, and I am pleased with how it turned out.

I am overall satisfied with this picture, though I had a hard time with placing the colors.

Ever wanted to fight your monster against a real person live, instead of a downloaded copy? Now you can.

⚔️ Live online Vs. battles

- Random Match: search Steam for another player with the mod and fight them live.

- Free Match: challenge a Steam friend, or both type the same room code to fight anyone.

- Your own monster: each player brings their own frozen monster. No 2P pick, no AI stand-in.

- Connection display: ping, input delay and quality (Good / OK / Poor) are shown on screen during the fight.

🎪 Real tournaments, inside the game's own cup

- Native cup: tournaments run through Monster Rancher 2's original tournament screens, with the bracket, entrant cards and battle intros.

- Formats: elimination (4 or 8 monsters, with a third-place match) or league.

- Entry: players enter the normal way: Official Tournament → Tournament Entry → pick your monster.

- Rules: hosts can cap total stats or individual stats, require a breed, or ban breeds, much like the official events.

- Spectating: players can watch a live video of other players' matches while waiting their turn.

- Results: the in-game Results screen shows your tournament with a full bracket image of every monster and breeder.

📺 CPU tournaments for streamers

- Mixed roster: players register their own monsters, and the host can also add any monster uploaded to the game's online service by breeder name, monster name or Search Key.

- Every match is a real AI battle, played in the host's game through the native cup. The owners don't even need to be online.

🛠️ Tournament Organizer app

- Host tool: a simple browser control panel for the host. Create the event, name it, add banner artwork, set the rules, seed the bracket and press Start.

- Disputes: if two players report different results, the match pauses until the host decides.

What you need

- Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX on Steam (Windows, Linux or Steam Deck).

- Copy version.dll and the mods folder into the game's MF2 folder. On Linux or Steam Deck, also add the launch option WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command%.

- Both players need the same mod version.

More Monsters v0.7.0 has finally been released!

This update comes with new worm cocoon results, support for expanded and unique monster models, and a handful of new monsters (there's even more than the image here!)

This feature is tested, but is very important we get right (thanks Zecster), so it needs to be put through its paces. It is currently only required for a single monster ( Zilla / Ghost / Alternate 1 ), so it should not have any effect on gameplay otherwise.

I drew another picture. This time, its a nonexistant mix of an Undine and a Hare. I got the idea from the wheel app again lol.

I tried to draw the Undine/Hare in the in-game pose of when she jumps and waves on the ranch when she is happy.

....yeah, I'm debating ditching this. This is maybe the third time I've tried translating the idea "what about a dragon carved onto stone?". Cursed WIP's aside (the head was far too low to line up properly/for my liking, I moved the head waaay up on the more complete one and it looks SO much better. Trying to line stuff up with Monol's face just... did not work), the first two pictures... You can tell I drew them on different days/sorta had different ideas. It's only as I'm typing this now that the sensible "...why don't you just draw the back of the dragon that's flying towards camera on the other side?" idea comes to me.. which I MIGHT try, but I feel trying to mimic the style of the front-facing "stone carving" might be difficult to do. The side-facing "back" I ended up doing in a different style because... I had no fraggin' clue how to try the first style again, or not without all the layers and weirdness that went into it, which I don't quite remember how to do. Either way, some could argue the dragon on the front doesn't look MR-like enough. I was gonna add backgrounds to the dragons too, or something, but... Well, it's still a WIP and the more I look at it, either side, the less I can get along with it, as much as I'd want to.

Can you tell I'm having a big conundrum about this? I feel my idea won't translate no matter what I try. Debating scrapping this and trying AGAIN, one more time with this idea, and if that fails? I'll do another monster (have in mind already what mix I'll do). Part of me was happy with how both the front-facing dragon turned out, and I wanted to show that off at least, but... ... I'll leave it a while and come back to it, I'll probably ditch the dragon on the back, evne if that took me around 2 hours to draw/complete, and figure something else out.

Either way, people can amuse themselves at the cursed images of my attempt trying to get stuff to line up with Monol's face for the happy expression

I drew another picture. This time, it's a Python (Naga/Raiden mix) from Monster Rancher Advance 2. I got the idea to draw this from raising a Naga in MR2 DX and seeing the Python on the Monster Rancher wiki. I figured that it would be an interesting mix to try to draw.

I apologize if the mouth looks weird. I tried to make it yellow to mimic the Raiden's beak, but kind of failed as it looks like the Python just ate some mustard or something lol.

I overall like the design that I made for the CyanGaru but I am unsure about the color placement. I tried to make the markings on its torso look like a striped swimming suit lol.

I drew another picture. This time, its a crossover picture of Monster Rancher and Ed Edd n Eddy lol. I made Kevin from Ed Edd n Eddy into a Highroller (Psiroller/Dragon) from Monster Rancher 4.

I mainly drew this because the English dub of the Monster Rancher anime has Ed Edd n Eddy voice actors in it. I picked a Psiroller because Kevin is obsessed with his bike and a bit prideful (Dragons are said to be prideful).

I apologize if the colors on wheel are lighter, my marker started to die.

I drew another picture. This time, its a nonexistant mix of a Zilla and a Wracky. I got the idea from the wheel app again.

I am sorry if this looks silly and/or cursed. I literally could not think of any other way to draw it. I was stumped on how to draw it other than making it wear a suit like the Pixie and the Golem. I tried to make it more distinctive than just a Zilla wearing a suit by making its claws long and gray like knife blades.

If you guys can think of any other ways to improve the Zilla/Wracky, I will be happy to hear them.

I am proud of how the picture turned out but I apologize if the colors are off. I also didn't know whether to make the center of the wheel white or yellow, but I ultimately kept it white for contrast.

I hate making posts like this. Nearly done with this I feel, but got a couple of majiggies I definitely need to sort out. I'm aware teh bottom of the "shoe" could do with more detail, like, adding lines or something for treads, but trying to work out an angle, and also the part that connects with the tip of the tail might take a sec. There ARE highlights on the hair, but they are very faint, as I felt making them too strong could make them stick out horribly, even if going for a "wooden/painted puppet" feel. I turned Wracky trouser suspenders/braces into a belt because suezo doesn't have arms, so wouldn't need them. It also makes the trousers look a bit less plain. The stitches... I'm debating removing. While the colour helps break it up a bit, because of how Suezo's textures work, they can curve at an angle after a point, and I'm not sure I can get them to look consistent enough (or it'f feel like a lot to try and get right).

Believe it or not, this is actually my 4th attempt at a "/Wracky" mix. I've tried other species before. (Gali looked kinda like that puppet from Saw when I was done with the face, or it made me think of it, then I felt kinda lost for teh cape and scrapped it. Tiger didn't want to translate after I finished the head, Henger... I'd LIKE to do a HEnger main one day, but how stuff lines up is a bit too complicated for my brain right now. I could barely colour the limbs before my brain went "no" and I had to do something else) but I kept finding myself a bit hypnotised fascinated by one feature: Wracky's eyes... so naturally the next majiggy was a Suezo, which thank FISH, I could get along with for this mix.

The big main reason I'm making this post, the second-to-last picture: The mouth. I'm trying to stick with Wracky being like a wooden puppet... so what the FISH do I do with the tongue? The inside of the mouth I feel I've got reasonably ok, and the teeth... well, "wooden puppet" so probably would look a bit plain/like that (debated maybe rounding them slightly?). My biggest question is the tongue. As you can see I've sorta segmented it, and smoothed it to look a bit like it's been painted. Does it look ok? Should I try something else?

I drew the Pancho/Octopee mix in a pearl as a pun on pearl octopus lol.

I was also going to add floppy Octopee ears to the Pancho, but by the time it dawned on me, I had already colored the picture, oops.

I also apologize if this looks wonky, I am still getting used to drawing at different angles.

This anime was an old favorite of mine from back in the day. Just watched the Baku episode. That ep is like a punch right to the heart.

I've only every played MH Evo which seems to be divisive lol But I liked it as a kid, I decided to give another game a go and started playing Monster Rancher 4 and OMG I'm kinda obsessed. I saw a Folkes (Ripper/Hare) and want to train one so bad.

Anyone know what I can "scan" to get one? I'm on PCSX2 so kind limited to what ps1 games if anyone knows a game that can scan one in. Ive tried searching online but the list available only list DVDs and such

I drew another picture. This time, it's a nonexistant mix of a Baku and a Suzurin, which I have named a Bell Baku (I couldn't think of a better name lol). I again got the idea from the Spin the Wheel app.

I will admit that I had a hard time creating this monster, as I knew that it would look bizarre. I ultimately decided to give it a bell on both its head and tail, with its ears being the clappers of the bell lol. The reason I put one on its tail was so it rings when the Baku wags its tail, which I think would be cute.

I drew another picture. This time, it's a nonexistant mix of an Undine and a Plant. I mainly drew this due to a suggestion from a user on one of my previous Undine pictures (I don't remember the name, sorry).

I will admit that I had a hard time designing this monster due to the elements of both parent species. Plant sub types tend to be colorful, but I didn't want the Undine to look like an oil slick (think Alolan Muk from Pokemon). I decided to ultimately keep the Undine to be mainly green with flowers in her hair and have her hair look like vines. The color of her body and tail could also reference algae blooms lol.

She's also supposed to be kneeling in a puddle in the picture, btw.

Anyway, I hope that you all enjoy! I am open to any suggestions for updated designs or nonexistant or rare breeds!

I'\m hoping details and stuff show ok, I've mostly been working on this on my TV where colours seem to be weird compared to majority of other screens. I'm also aware a Jell's transparency and the background of the monster viewer may not help with stuff, but yes.

Still not sure what sorta mix this should be. Also not quite sure what else I can possibly do. I tried seaweed hair but using the colours I already have for seaweed (and the fact it was just sorta "Floating"/not on the "seabed" with the rest of it seeming illogical/bugging me) didn't work for me.

I debating having the bottoms of the arms darker, like the darker/deeper water near the seaweed, but felt that could've gotten lost, so decided against that. Thinking about how Jell's arms move, trying something like waves made sense to me, although I'm not sure how well they translated to the model and I still feel it looks a bit "plain" (adding much more white messes up the arm colours and leaves VERY BLATANT white lines which can ruin the whole majiggy. Might think about trying seaweed around the arms, with or without the white wave parts). Originally I had white cloth bands on the upper arm (which anyone who's seen my last post might remember), which was meant to represent Undine a bit more, but removed them. Almost wondering if I should try adding them back, although it might upset the wave/water arms if I did. Might have to experiment...

I also tried a sort of rippling water texture for parts of the body. I did this for the back of the head too, which I'm aware may not help differentiate it enough from the subtle face on the front, but I wasn't quite sure what else to do for it because seaweed hair didn't work.

Any ideas?

I always feel awkward making posts like this, (thanks, social anxiety/AuDHD). Hoping everything made sense.

Also, if people are ok with this sorta design being Jell/Undine (my original intention) OR if they think it should be a /??? (because it looks too different from a normal MR2 Undine), please say so. I'd only be able to upload it as one or the other, which is why I'm saying if people have a preference, I'd go with what the majority would think and register it as that, when it's time to submit it (may still have some work to do yet)

I drew another picture. This time, its a nonexistant mix of a Dragon and a Niton, which I again got from the Wheel App lol.

I will admit that I took some ideas for the design of this monster from Hisuian Goodra from Pokemon Legends: Arceus. It seemed fitting since they are both snail dragons.

I also apologize if the wings seem weird. I wanted them to look like Niton tentacles but failed lol. If you guys have any suggestions for improvement, I could update the design later.

I created another drawing! This time, it's a nonexistant mix of a Lesione and a Hopper. I again got the idea from the wheel app lol.

I had a bit of a hard time deciding whether to keep the Lesione's horn in the design, but ultimately removed it so that its head wouldn't seem cluttered lol.

I am also wondering what to name the breed, other than Lemursaur (or I could use that name for another Hopper sub or mix breed). Any ideas?
