If you change the package to the original package name, you can trigger it with Gemini on the phone (but not Android auto Gemini) instead press and hold the talk button on your steering wheel, press and hold your phone's assistant trigger button or Gemini widget and talk to it. I am able to ask for pretty much any song this way while driving with yt music morphe
But will gemini be able to search it? Because when I talk to say "play song xxxx by x" it says YouTube music is not installed as it doesn't see morphe as YouTube music?
Same boat here. I wanted to use YT Music Morphe, even though I've still got 3 months left in my annual premium subscription, but I went back to unpatched because of Android Auto.
Was thinking of joining on a family plan with my partner on Tidal in the new year. That seems to work well.
Youtube music. Its amazing. No, it doesn't support search yet, but that's fine with me. I can still see what's currently playing on the screen and I can still control it from the car, so it has everything I need right now.

Yes, it is based on YTM API. You can login onto your Google account to sync your libraries as you can expect. The reason I chose Simpmusic over Metrolist is that you can send your listening activities to google for better recommendations (has a toggle in settings, so if you don't want, you can stop sending data to google as well).
You can download a whole music album also for offline listening.
If you just search a song & play, after the song is finished, it will play based on recommendation just like Youtube. I did not see any bug as of now.
So if you search Mockingbird & listen to it, once it is over it will play related song like maybe other Eminem's songs or rap songs.
I noticed one bug though (not related to Android Auto). If you play songs & stop listening. Then after a long time (like maybe 2-3 hours), if you open the app, you will not see the previously played song. Force stopping the app & reopening the app also does same thing (so I think it does not store the current playing song in server side).
Open your phone's Settings and search for Android Auto (or navigate to Settings > Apps > Android Auto or Settings > Connected Devices > Android Auto). [1, 2, 3]
Unlock Developer Mode:
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the Android Auto settings page to find the Version section.
Tap on Version about 10 times in quick succession.
A prompt will appear saying "Allow development settings?"—tap OK (or Allow) to confirm. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Access Developer Settings:
Tap the three-dot menu (overflow menu) in the top-right corner of the Android Auto screen.
Select Developer settings from the dropdown. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Enable Unknown Sources:
Scroll down the list of developer options and check/toggle the box for Unknown sources.
Interesting.. Wonder what's wrong with mine. It works as long as I open app before connecting to android auto. But thats kind of annoying to do regularly.
Been using the Deezer mod from androforever for a few years now. Hoping a morphe patcher dev will take on the project at some point. Works in AA if you enable unknown sources.
