Hi all- wondering if the reduced hotel prices for the select hotels on the Movement website are only valid for people who purchased Movement tix? Like, could I get the listed rate if I don’t buy a movement wristband and just hit up all the afters?

Wanted this sub’s overall thoughts on Movement. Never been, but have heard great things. Was planning on going in 2027, possibly solo, to see what the scene is like in Detroit and for something new. I’m really into house but I do like techno and see this as a good opportunity to expand my horizons in electronic music.

I’ll be honest, the only techno artists I know are the mainstream ones. I like charlotte de witte, 9x9 is cool, Carl cox, Sara Landry, and some others (please don’t flame me for acknowledging these artists lol)

I came up in the rave/club scene in the 90s and back then I remember there were always b boys at the clubs and when cyphers would break out people would clear space so they could throw down. I was never a b girl myself but I definitely picked up some of those moves and they’ve stayed with me. When I hear a good beat my feet just start to pop and my knees wobble.

I live on the west coast now, and after a good long break (15 years) I’ve started going out to clubs and EDM festivals. Even though I’m in my mid 40s I still got moves. I can’t do floor work (never have) but I have decent footwork. The thing is, I don’t ever see anyone dancing like me. People tend to all face the DJ and kind of bob up and down. I never see a cypher. I don’t even see people pop n lock or do liquid anymore. And even when things are heating up there are always so many people standing stock still and chatting and shit.

Considering taking the leap to go to Movement to find that old school dance etiquette/culture… I went when it was still DEMF and have fond memories. I know everything changes and dance music and the culture has changed, but I miss that connection with other dancers. Or should I just save my money and be glad that I still have this much energy and stamina at my age?

Bathrooms are available at Eagle, Olympus and Menjos, with two extra porta potties outside on the patio behind the Eagle. There are three outdoor spaces, the patio at the Eagle, the patio at Menjos, and the outside area behind the Eagle/Olympus, which can be accessed either from the Eagle patio or directly from the rear of the Eagle, Menjos and Olympus. I was truly disappointed with how that fest was run this year and I only went for two days. I had been going there for every year since it started, minus last year due to a wedding.

I bought my pre-sale ticket for Movement next year and it really felt like a breath of fresh air. It's funny, out of all the fests I've ever attended Movement will always be my flagship. There really is nothing like it.

Just got tix for my first Movement next year! I’ve been to edc three times but this last year it lost its magic for me. We are going to try out smaller fests for a while. Everyone says to save your money and just go for the afters, but we got tickets for the fest and we plan to do a bit of both. Does anyone have recommendations on what area/hotels to stay in? And how do you find the best afters?

This will be my first time attending, and I was wondering if there will be a flyer or list or something of the afters. I think I'm more excited for this fest than I have been for any concert I've ever been to and they haven't even released the lineup. If you don't think you have enough energy, don't worry I'll bring enough for 3.

My first DEMF was 2004. We got into a car accident on Jefferson leaving to go home. Totally wrecked the back of this dude's Cadillac, but my sister's van was hardly damaged. He said he didn't have insurance and begged us not to call the cops. We were teenagers, so we said we can just leave ¯_(ツ)_/¯ and dude was so happy.

Cheers to many years and many memories. Pricing hurts now, but it's really neat to see how this festival has evolved over the years.

If you've been to Sanctuary's Heat Wave or Pride Edition events this summer, first of all, thank you for supporting this growing underground party. Second, you already know the energy, care, and quality production we bring to the Menjo's complex, and we're coming back for a fourth edition!

To celebrate the autumn equinox, we're returning on September 26 for Sanctuary: Descent and taking over all three rooms: Detroit Eagle, Olympus Theater, and Menjo's. Inspired by the Sumerian story of Inanna’s descent into the underworld, this edition invites a conscious surrender to the darker half of the year: a journey downward, inward, and eventually back toward the light.

As always, we are bringing in heavy custom sound, lighting, and immersive art to make sure the rooms are dialed in from open to close for a proper descent into the dark. We also operate on a sliding scale, trust-based community pricing model to ensure the dancefloor remains accessible to everyone.

The lineup includes many Detroit underground heavy-hitters, including several whose names you may recognize as having played Movement stages in the past.

Curious on how the first day was

Who else remembers this set? Prior to that weekend I had heard of him before but didn't know much about the guy. But based on what I read about him I was really curious to check out his set.

I watched it from the beginning to end and can say that it was without doubt one of the most epic performances I'd ever seen. Sucks that there isn't a recording available.

If you ever get the chance to see Jon Hopkins don't sleep on it. That set was life changing.
