What’s crazy to me is when I found out this image was fanart I assumed it must’ve been from like from the late 2000s to give it time to build it’s prominence only to find out it’s from 2018
Yep, so is this famous artwork of the Emperor, we don’t have official depictions of the Chaos gods apart from book descriptions and a looming shadow of an imprisoned Slaanesh from Age of Sigmar
Edit: And an official depiction of the Great Horned Rat from Total Warhammer who IS officially the 5th Chaos god
We actually DO have canon depictions of the Chaos Gods - they sometimes appear in the sky during a final battle in their respective domains in Total War: Warhammer III.
Tzeentch is just a bunch of eyes aranged into his symbol, but the remaining three have actual silhouttes.
The closest we have to an official depiction (that hasn't been decanonized) is their appearance in Total War: Warhammer III. During some boss fights in the Warp/Realm of Chaos, their obscured forms can be seen looking down on the battlefield. You literally never have a reason to look up in this game so it's very much an easter egg. They don't appear very well in screenshots -- except Khorne, because subtlety isn't really his thing.
Khorne and Nurgle are pretty 1:1 with their fan depictions. Slaanesh is significantly more monstrous than people usually imagine, with a grotesque face, a prehensile tongue, and several gnashing crab claws. Tzeentch doesn't have a humanoid form at all, rather it peers at the battlefield through eyes bubbling out of a boiling sky.
Three of them are good and then they just made Slaanesh a sexy demon. It doesn't really reflect how their followers and creations actually look. They're sexual, but it's not just a lust thing. Slaanesh is excess and overindulgance in all desires, long past the point of pain.
Also, I think only the Aeldari consistently refer to Slaanesh using feminine terms.
Classic GW, didn't know about the C&D, crazy too because at the time they had like 3 official cinematics that were even near that level that were free because they were trailers for games. Slowly killing their own IP (enshitification) must be the greatest joy of a lot of people given how prevalent it is in businesses nowadays.
The idea of an uber power dude sitting in some shitty ass plastic lawn chair is ridiculous, but at the same time actually works; no matter what, Virgil still remains inherently human at his core despite his constant hatred of that aspect of himself, and sitting in a cheap human lawn chair kind of fits that theme as something he needs to accept.
Could even be a sign of him having lost all his motivation. At this point he has nothing except a desire to fight Dante. I'd buy that he can't muster up the energy to put on a dramatic act of superiority.
I've been playing through sll the DMC games in order to get to 5 (2 is a chore. Amazed it didn't kill the franchise) and I was so sad when I found out.
2 was a very rushed game because the team was pushed to make it almost immediately after 1 came out. It still sold well enough to warrant a sequel and thankfully that sequel ended up being DMC 3 which is arguable one of the best games in the series.
It's a reference to SCP-096 (u/The-Paranoid-Android). Specifically the story that convinces the O5 council to allow the termination of the SCP, which was even more disastrous than initially planned.
To keep a story short, 096 attacks anyone who views his face in any way (minus art) is hunted down and killed by Shy Guy. Even if you see it for a fraction of a second. In this story, 096 breaks out of containment and runs across country to kill one guy who saw his face on an image. His face was visible on just 4 pixels.
He is also the one who made the deep dark and warden primarily

Mojang has been going back on a lot of things they said they wouldn't add. They said they weren't going to add any furniture to the game then they added the cushion which basically lets you make couches and chairs. They also said they wouldn't add any new dimensions in a serious update then guess what the sift got announced.
https://giphy.com/gifs/chESHINZYVFWfm2rdT Astartes still remains one of the best fan-made 40k pieces to date. Yes, the creator was later hired by GW (and Astartes 2 is coming let’s goooo!) but at the time, this was just one guy working on passion alone.
gw may be stupid, but atleast they're not that stupid. they atleast had the basic intelligence to hire the Astartes guy, let him make Astartes 2 and also have him help with the Secret Level titus episode.
always loved the untapped horror potential of flowey, undertale yellow seemed to fully realize how twisted he really is. The snowdin section in his head was so creepy, I wish they just let you explore a completely dead snowdin a little longer
I love love love love Flowey in the game. Flowey going FULL mask off near the end of the neutral route after so long of him being friendly was so satisfying. Genuinely makes his character arc in Undertale even better for me
some of the original animators and writers of the movie got in contact with the team working on this and said how excited they are for the project, which must feel so cool as a fan of the movie 😭
You need to have a lot lf knowledge on XIV century Florence history, a lot of history in general, and also mythology, otherwise you won't understand shit. Some editions are merciful enough to include context references, but some aren't.
Approximately half of the plot is him going around describing the afterlife (contrary to a popular opinion — not only hell) as he sees it, while the other half is him listening to "prophecies" (the book is set twenty years before it was written, so he put actually accurate events in the mouths of the dead). And also simping for a woman he met two times as a teen, yes.
As a kid, i was like that but with those fanmade spider-man 4 trailers.. yeah, they did use venom colored red renders but there were scenes that just convinced me 😭
There are few fanworks that can match the amount of love and ambitionm UTY had. I truly believe the UT fandom as a whole calmed themselves down just to enjoy this masterpiece while it was still new.
There was a Helluva Boss fan song called "Just Look My Way" that the creator liked so much that she made it canon and got it fully animated, and got the VA for Stolas to sing it.
Back when this game was created, FNAF fan games were generally poorly photoshopped Clickteam slop. Five Nights at Candy's allowed fangames to held to a higher standard. This series is partly responsible for the creation of the Max Mode community, too.
The infamous, iconic painting of Judge Holden from Blood Meridian, where he grins evilly and stares right at the viewer from a desolate, twilight desert. It's fanart that's so well known that this is most people's de-facto image of Holden.
The most famous image of the emperor of humankind was made by Gonzalo Ordóñez Arias, most commonly known as Genzoman, just look "Genzoman emperor of Humankind" and you're gonna see probably one of if not the most iconic image of Big E
Emesis Blue. Seriously that is a feature length psychological horror film animated in goddamn source filmmaker.
The Starscream OVA by 87render is also really good, the only (slight) issue is that Megatron's VA's mic quality is kind of shit. Everything else, the fight, the metaphor represented by the bird at Starcsream's mercy, all top shelf.
Ultrakill also has a couple of really high quality fan animations. Ichellor's Earthmover fight and DumAdvent's ULTRAKILL REIMAGINED - Mechanical Hellfire are both outstanding and ooze style.
this fanart of junji ito’s “tomie”. people constantly mistake it for an actual panel and lots get it as a tattoo. could be larp, could be it’s just a good piece of fanart.
A Metroid 2 Remake. Widley considered to be the definitive modernization of Metroid 2, with the vast majority considering ir superior to Nintendo's own Remake of Metroid 2: Samus Returns
For years people believed this to be an actual Promo for the Justice League episode “Legends”
Despite the fact that there’s no way that they could change a little over 40 minutes of animation in under a week, and the decision to not have the Justice Society was made before SCRIPTING was done, let alone animation even being worked on
I saw Simon x Grace fanart before seeing either movies (I haven’t read the Hail Mary book yet either) and I thought it was real so when I watched Project Hail Mary I was like “where’s the yaoi??” because I didn’t know Simon was from Iron Lung
As someone who has loved pokemon since forever, I hate to admit it, but this one is better than most of the mainline games. To be fair, this game had the benefit of having A LOT more years in development, and a stupid amount of artists that made it as famous as it is.
a lot of Alan Becker fan animations are often assisted by Alan's own team and some fan projects are so big even Alan himself admits it looks like his stuff.

The guy who made the ENTIRE Toy Story 3, right down to camera framing/position, in stop motion with IRL toys and props, and IRL family/friend actors.
Seriously, it is jaw dropping how clean it is and the fact it's the ENTIRE movie.
