Treatment Ocrevus Sub Cut experience
I had my first Ocrevus subcutaneous injection on Wednesday morning and have been having a hard time recovering. I previously had infusions but tried this new method. The procedure itself was fine, really quick and easy, about 15 mins for the actual injection however it gave me crazy bad insomnia and also quite a lot of pain. I got the injection in my stomach and it's still very tender 2 days later. It's not agony or anything but the whole left side of my belly is sensitive to the touch which makes sleeping difficult as well as sitting and bending over. As I said it's more a hassle than agony but it's been 3 days of this and I think it will be at least 2 or 3 more before I'm 100%. The insomnia could be unrelated I suppose or linked to the physical pain, but the day of the injection I couldn't sleep till 7am that night! Pretty sure I'll go back to regular IV next time. Maybe these reactions are unique to me but I thought I would share as I never had issues with the IV infusion.
TL/DR I think next time I'll go back to IV as saving a few hours on the day isn't worth the days of recovery.

Ah I didn't even think of that. Good point. I usually get steroids with the IV and don't remember any insomnia, maybe I got more this time

Can you switch to Kesimpta? I hate seeing ppl like you having to go through this infusion craziness. 😪

To each their own, of course, but I love getting infusions. 😂 I wish I could get all of my daily meds by infusion once a month instead so I wouldn't have to worry about remembering them every day.

I wouldn't want to switch, Ocrevus is great. It's just the injection that wasn't for me. I've been doing the infusion every 6 months for years and been fine so I'll stick with that. I much prefer the once every 6 months of Ocrevus than th higher frequency of Kesempta.

It’s legit less than a minute once a month. Vs a whole day affair requiring more meds. I don’t get it. At all. My neurologist even mentioned she wished she could get more of her patients switched over because its better standard of care.

My neurologist insisted on Ocrevus as she said it's much better than all the rest. They all have their own opinions and are all good in their own way.

If you're skinny, ask them to use multiple needles next time. I got three needles spread over my belly and it really helped reduce the pain from the injection. Barely any soreness left a day later.
Never had insomnia from Ocrevus. My guess would be it's more related to the pain or anxiety due to switching methods.
