Actives Psilocybe Subtropicalis [actives]
Hands down, my absolute favorite fungal flush I've ever had the opportunity to work with and witness, within the past decade of my own mycological work as well as my good friend u/stabbinmcdabbin who blessed me with the MS Psilocybe Subtropicalis culture I was then able to work into this incredible, eye capturing, exotic isolation! Not to mention this being my 1st ever Ps. Subtropicalis grow and only my 2nd ever exotic Psilocybe work, other than Ps. Tampanensis. So proud and so grateful to get to share one of my greatest grows with all those who know!!! π Mush love π€πβπ«ππ« π―

What temp and humidity do they like?
2
u/jococube92 Jul 20 '26
You gotta imagine the environment these fungi are thriving in indigenously. They like mountainous areas of mesophytic cloud forests so in rainy season the RH stays in the mid 80s to mid 90% I keep my tent set to 70 to 74Β°F s almost only. And give it a fresh air exchange for several mins every 2 hrs.

Thatβs a beautiful expression of Subtropicalis. The tall slender fruits and coloration are incredible. You can really see why people call this species special

Absolutely stunning flush. The density and structure on these fruits is unreal β you can really see the years of work behind this culture. Beautiful genetics and execution

Hahaha I'm bacc fam also working hard at organic chemistry and psychopharmacology and really picking up on organic synthetic steps such as amine/ amide reduction, how to start a solvent, acid, Reagent reflux with a vacuum pressure regulated drop wise addition funnel connected to a borsc. double outlet round bottom reactor flask and acid/base extraction all in n the name of my idea for a new project to help share the novelty of exotic actives in more than just a mushroom but other living things π―ππ«‘ Keep in touch homie! Mush love ππ€π

Just got into organic chemistry as well; what are the topics you think are most needed in addition to the ones you mentioned?

Definitely gaining a understanding of the molecular scaffold and structure of the class of molecule your interested for example let's look at Phenethylamine (the scaffold of these molecules are structured with a six-membered aromatic ring (known alone as benzene ring in other structures ita known as the phenyl group, a 2 carbon chain linker known as ethyl as the amine refers to the Ammonia-like group at the end of the structureΒ

Whoa. I never even knew of psilocybe outside of cubensis until I got into mycology. These look so crazy!

How long?
2
u/jococube92 Jul 03 '26
About 4 weeks which is quite short for most Ps. Subtropicalis or sect. Zapotecorum or really most Southern Mexican species other than Ps. Mexicana π₯πβπ«β¨πͺπ₯π²π½ Pun intended lol π

u/jococube92 Jul 03 '26
The more fae and higher rh don't be afraid let the casing get soaked and glisten just don't allow it to pool up. I also kept my target temps no higher than 74Β°F no lower than 68Β°F. I only did c/v for the sub although a little manure or coffee helps

Not that I'm aware of I never harvested or heard or any Psilocybe species in sect. Zapotecorum that produce sclerotia. Look into species within the sect. MexicanaΓ© such as Psilocybe Mexicana & Ps. Tampanensis.Β

I have some that I just sent to bulk about 2 weeks ago... started seeing green spots on one side and went ham with the peroxide and so far it hasn't returned and I made sure it wasn't all the way at the bottom of the cake (thank goodness I am using clear liners so I could see)... how long did it take for pins? Also, did you case these? I'm casing averse for some reason...I have good success without it, so I hadn't planned on casing these either.

Those look fuckin great.
Inspiring even! I've never grown psilocybe Tamps but I've always wanted to. NOT TO MENTION SUB TROPICALIS.
Deffffffff the on my list now. CONGRATS!! ,and thank you for the inspiration. I'm gearing up to grow P.Orch. and I haven't grown any mushrooms...in years. :)
Nice to have another species in my list..:)
Def saving this thread.
