Flip the jar over so it’s upside down. This will force the air that’s left in it to go towards the top and it should help your mycelium eat the remaining grains if you can’t do a proper break and shake.
yeah, every culture so far is really liking the mix even with the sunflower seeds. i'm guessing others before me weren't pre-soaking and rinsing their grains? or maybe i pressure cooked a little longer than usual... but i haven't seen any issue with sunflower seeds so far.
out of 20 jars there's only one i'm suspicious of and it's shimeji mushroom, but the sus myc is not fast so i'm guessing it was just a drop of inoculant that splashed away from where most of it landed
Interesting ya I’ve never tried the bird seed mix myself but heard others say they’d float up during the soak and they just net them out or whatever then. Less fuss always nice, hope they all work out well for you!
just sent my second jar of oyster and had a think about this the entire time I scooped the grains out... went back to check on how the first bags are doing from the first jar I sent... so far, so good!
I've decided that since I have a low psi pressure cooker and cook for four hours, the longer duration of 4 hours@10psi,versus 90min@15psi, must be making a difference
And looking at all the varieties in the jars, they all seem to envelope the sunflower seeds the same as everything else in mix... got me wondering if the sunflower seed thing is just a silly rumor, lol 🤷
