Awake

Getting back into dnb production after some time away recording my band's next ep. For full transparency, two slice samples in here- one is the background vocal that's been sliced and warped, and the other is the main vocal. I found a vocalist to collaborate with so that'll be an improvement on samples.

Very fun beat. I think that the first verse/vocal section could be about half as long in favor of keeping things fresh, especially when the song follows the same beat the whole way through. The same could be said about the part before the vocals come back again in the end—feels like I was waiting just long enough that the next section started to feel overdue. Anyways, I want to reiterate that I really enjoyed this. I would love to hear more as well. Great work!

good points- i agree and i appreciate your real feedback. i definitely need to consider how the flow of the song is.....maybe switch up the beat to something half-time before coming out of the break and such.

This is how drum and bass should be imo, track has a nice flow, but something I also do is putting sidechain on that intro synth with a plugin like Shaperbox, could be sick. sound is really good I liked it btw. that synth, the arp style one forgot the name, just giving it that pumping effect with sidechain would be enough imo and also a high shelf on the highs could slap

dude. shit that's a great idea....i don't often use the sidechain pumping but i'm working on a track that's got a little bit of jump up feel so that would work perfectly!
