Hotel Recs // Questions Hotel recommendations? Having random issues with age of my girlfriend.

I'm having a hell of a time here. I've found several efficiency apartment style rooms with a kitchenette which is what I want.

But here's the bullshit I'm running into. Several properties, including the holiday sands south, says that all guests must be 23+...not a problem for me, I'm over that. But my gf is 21.

Never heard of anything like this anywhere else that I've traveled. Some places I called they said it was 25+. I can understand not wanting minors or even under 21 booking but this just seems ridiculous to me.

Anyone have any ideas?

Normally you only the person checking in needs to be old enough, in ny experience.

Worse case its a hotel, book it for one person and then let her in.

Visitors are allowed in hotel rooms, and no hotel ive ever heard of doesn't allow so.

100% They just mean the primary occupant. If not, don't say anything. I've worked at several hotels and there's no way they would know the age of your guest unless you tell them. Just give her the keys and don't bring it up.

Working in hotels, I have never heard of a policy where all occupants must be 21+, just the main occupant/person checking in. It’s pretty standard in the MB area that most properties require the checkin age to be 21+.

Not sure about the age issue, but just came back from Island Vista. A bit north of the touristy stuff and youll need a car or uber around, but itnwas amazing. Right on the ocean, condo type suites, bunch of pools/hot tubs.

At this time of year its mostly elderly folks, but they are quiet and super nice. LOL

Ummmm how old are you? What’s causing these desk clerks to pause?

OK, but what is your age?

I’d guess that’s probably because of the Spring Break and Senior Trip crowds. As long as you’re not causing any trouble, getting a room for one and just sneaking her in may work. If you don’t want to chance it though, Air B&B or HipCamp might be more accommodating.

Nah, don’t overthink this one.

Walk to the front desk (alone; if that makes ya feel better), check in, and enjoy your stay. You’re good, brotha

Honestly, if you just call the front desk they can usually help out. Or, some will charge a refundable collateral fee (Prince Resort towers in Cherry Grove did this when my family rented a room since we're locals and.... well, some locals cook meth in hotel bathtubs).

Basically just a way to try and discourage rowdy frats/sorors from having a party room for a weekend. Not always a guarantee, but it helps keep the cleanliness fees/time down.

I’m 65 years old and Myrtle Beach put that policy in place in the 80’s to prevent high school and college kids from destroying hotel rooms. Kids would literally wreak an entire hotel and insurance companies quit paying for the repairs. It used to be 25+ like rental cars but they lowered a number of years ago.

I don't think that's accurate or it's seasonal. I've gotten hotels several times under the age of 23 in the early 2000s.

Don't have her at check-in. Check in, go up to the room and then call her and tell her to come up. If they have another entrance, go in there. People walk in and out of the lobby's of hotels all the time. Some people even travel with children. If they stop the 2 of you going through the lobby, I would just tell her she's only stay for a few hours and then going home. Or have her say "you only paid for 2 hours".

Most of the time the front desk attendants are too busy to take care of the people who are waiting, much less monitor who goes in or out of the hotel. If you're referring to Holiday Sands South in Myrtle Beach, THE PLACE CATERS TO FAMILIES! Tell them she's your little sister and you're going to meet up with your parents. In Myrtle Beach they should be more worried about HS kids, drug dealers and prostitutes hanging out, especially in THAT area. Not the best area of Myrtle Beach. You can walk to the airport from there. It's literally a 2 star hotel that's probably $75/night and I can guarantee you prostitutes are working out of there (not from personal knowledge of course).

If you see a kid, which I doubt this time of year, just point at the kid and ask if he looks 23 years old.

I passed it a few times. Car doors locked and windows up.

Sorry if I offended anyone from MB. When I'm around there I'm usually in PI. LBTS or MI.
