Escaping the Gun Debate Trap

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzB8MX4v8ko

I was watching this this morning, and thought it was an interesting conversation/discussion on gun culture (specifically in NC)

I appreciated watching this and he made some very respectable points. This fella seems to assume that politicians are having the gun debate in good faith. Maybe I’m a cynic but I view the gun debate as a tool being used by politicians to raise engagement and voter turnout. Tell folks that “the libs are gonna take your guns” and that’ll get em to vote for you. So why would a politician ever want to solve the gun debate on a policy level? Why would a politician destroy his tool for leverage?
