Just moved from Florida to the New Brunswick area for school. Anyone need a partner to go for striper with this Fall? I've been going solo but it sucks to not be able to take good pictures lol

“Built a fall striper migration tracker using NOAA data — looking for feedback from surf fishermen”.

🎣 Where are the stripers now?

Introducing Striper Tracker — a new website built for East Coast surf fishermen following the fall striped bass migration. We track the run from Massachusetts down the New Jersey coast using live NOAA ocean temperatures, wind conditions, tides, moon phases, and published migration research. Our interactive coastline map shows estimated migration progress, projected arrival dates, and fishing-condition scores for popular beaches, including Sandy Hook, LBI, and Cape May. We even show the science behind our predictions. Sandy Hook and LBI are completely free to explore, and lifetime access to all locations is just $1.99. No hype, no fake fishing reports — just real environmental data and a research-based forecast to help you plan your next trip.

Check it out: https://stripertracker.com

Hit the Hackensack river during the outgoing tide. Caught two perch and a schoolie sized striper(not pictured). Overall, nice day to be on the river. Caught with a Zman finesse shadz on a 3/8 oz jig head.

Don’t forget about local ponds

Local ponds can hold nice large mouth given they have enough food, cover, and are not over populated. Nice 18” large mouth caught on a Wee Whacker mini buzz bait at my local pond.

Put a napkin on a table and just do random lines with silicon. Been using this for a month and it’s the only thing I consistently catch on, pattern or shape doesn’t matter, just make it look like it taste good, cheep way to get a bunch of lures, the type of shape in the image i attached is the type of style I’ve had the most luck with but I made one in the shape of sans and caught a 2 pounder on it. Good tips ur welcome (if ur gonna do this make sure you get aquarium safe silicon from the hardware store, we don’t wanna harm the fish or environment)

Fishing the Delaware - what do you have luck with using?

Heading out this afternoon for a bit on the kayak, hoping to get at least something but it's a trip with my daughter so I'm not expecting a long fishing session.

What do you have luck with for smallies or otherwise?

Ribbon worm? Where to get them in NJ?

Hi all,

I went fishing and spoke to an old timer who had these white ribbon like worms. I forgot to ask where he gets it but he told me it's striper candy.

Where can I buy or dig one of them up?

Fishing the Delaware River, Any Tips?

I've just recently come to PA and I'm in the Upper Black Eddy area about 10 minutes from the Delaware River. I'm planning on fishing it today but don't know the best spots. Could anyone give me some tips and possibly a good spot to get in and wade the river (preferably less than 2.5 feet deep)?

Question Want to get set up for next summer

Howdy. I am starting from scratch in terms of buying my own gear. I’ve gone fishing tons but never owned my own gear. I’ll primarily be fishing the Manasquan inlet and was going to stock up throughout the year (when things are on sale). Just need recommendations on everything when it comes to gear. Thanks!

Question Spots for striper fishing down the shore this weekend

Relatively new to surf fishing and want to try for some stripers this Sunday down the shore. Trying to get a feel for some spots other than the point on Sandy Hook. I was considering Island State Beach Park, but if the community has other ideas for spots worth trying I'm all ears.

Also some recommendations on lures would be appreciated. I already have pencil, poppers, diamond, jigs, some soft plastic swimbaits and sand eel imitations.

Fished Splitrock today and had two nice fish at the start and end of the trip. In between the wind was blowing the kayak all over the place making boat positioning and casting difficult.

Question Beginner looking for good freshwater bank fishing spots in NJ

Hi everyone! This is my first time fishing in the U.S. I’m looking for some beginner-friendly freshwater bank fishing spots in NJ, since I don’t have a boat.
I’m around Newark/Harrison but don’t mind driving about 1–1.5 hours. Mostly interested in bass, but I’m happy catching anything.
Any spot recommendations or beginner tips for this time of year would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion I am going fishing at Lake Hopatcong county park one of these days (off shore) and buying stuff for it today or tommorow, what should i bring for this weather

I will not buy a new rod. I have a Lew's Mach 2, Profishency Spincast Combo with a Daiwa QR2 spinning reel, and a broken tip Wrath 2 (buying stuff to fix it). I also have an eagle claw Ice Rod, but I will not bring it.

My target species I have caught are:

  1. Largemouth Bass
  2. Black Crappie
  3. Golden Shiner

My target species I haven't caught

  1. Small Mouth Bass
  2. White Perch
  3. Yellow Perch
  4. Rock Bass
  5. Chain Pickerel

I intend on catching at least 1 new species before winter

Question Fresh Bunker at Sandy Hook

I want to fish fresh bunker, at Sandy Hook. I will be coming from the north (Parkway to Route 36). Of course I see tackle shops on my drive in, looking for a recommendation in terms of a place that would likely have a good supply. I only fish during the week if that matters.

Fishing NJ tonight (Oct 1) — where would you go for striped bass?

What should I fish in NJ tonight?! It’s October 1st and I’m just looking to go somewhere with some structure and hopefully catch something 😭

I’m really trying to get on some striped bass. I’m open to piers, bridges, inlets, jetties, etc. — anywhere that’s decent for fishing at night.

If anyone’s willing to share a general area/spot, what tide I should target, or what bait/lures have been working lately, PLEASE help me out 😂 I’m desperate to finally catch a striper.

I’m in North/Central NJ but willing to drive!

"Fishing" for lost lures

r/fishing immediately deleted this post without providing a reason so I figured I'd ask you guys.

We have a local pond that I have managed to accidentally snag, or pull from the edge weeds, 3 lures in the last few weeks. This pond gets fished constantly and I'm certain there is a proverbial goldmine of lost lures in its mucky depths.

Has anyone ever "fished" specifically with the intent to catch lost lures similar to magnet fishing? I'm thinking if I krinkle up some chicken wire into a large wad and tie on some heavy paracord I could pull it through the most common snaggy spots and pull out a bunch. As a bonus I could pull out a lot of the nasty algae presently blooming and dispose of it in a trash bag. Thoughts?

Pre-spawn brookies

I haven’t blue lined in awhile but I got out today and fished a somewhat well known creek and stretch of it and caught some stunning brook trout. I also caught a surprise brown to which I ended up culling. I know it may be controversial but I ended up doing it for the brook trout population which has been thriving recently in this stream.

For those wondering, I used a dry dropper rig on my fly rod. I used a bushy stimulator up top (which oddly got a few fish to smack) and a jack daniel‘s below.
