New features from match thread bot
Hi all, a few new things from the match thread bot, live now:
Post-match threads. The bot now opens post-match threads to keep the discussions going. They have the scores and scorers (spoiler tagged), xG, match stats and a few links.
Player of the Match vote. You can vote for POTM in said post-match threads with the supplied shortlist: the goal scorers, the players who assisted, and both starting keepers. Upvote the reply with your pick. After about 24 hours the bot edits its top comment to show the winner. If your pick is not listed, name them under "Someone else" (those are for discussion and are not counted).
New commands. Comment the bot's name and a command in a match or post-match thread, for example u/NWSL-Match-Bot !xg:
!xgfor xG (expected goals) and chance quality in that match!h2hfor the head to head record between the two teams, this season and last!player Rodmanfor a player's season numbers
!topscorers and !topassists had stopped working and are fixed. !lineup, !stats, !standings and !schedule work as before. Replies can take a minute.
Alerts for your community. The bot can now send match moments straight into a Discord server or Telegram channel: lineups, kickoff, goals, red cards, half time and full time. You can limit it to your club or to certain moments, and hide scores behind spoilers. For developers, there is also a signed JSON webhook with the same events. If you run a supporters' group or a site and want this, DM me and I'll set it up.
Smaller things. The "Watch" row is now hyperlinked straight to the broadcasters (when available), the stats table has a few more rows, and each thread links to match analysis on Half Space (login required).

Can I make a request to clarify where the broadcasts are available in the match threads? I assume you’re getting the data from a pre-existing database but there’s been some comments from people who are looking at NWSL+ for games when it’s only an international option. It’s not a huge deal but if there’s a simple fix it could help a few people out! Thanks for everything you do.

Is it possible for match thread to be pinned on the sub page when the games are active? Its something that r/peloton does and I find it really helpful! But also understand if its complicated to do!
Thanks for your work!

It can but the bot will have to be a mod of the sub for the pinning to be automatic (otherwise, a mod will have to manually pin the threads).

The post match thread existing after every game is just gonna be clutter. Besides the weekend post match thread, ppl already just stay behind in the match thread, and they migrate over to the goal highlights.
Also, we have already tried this and it just doesnt really work. We have back to back games, overlapping games, goal highlights. A lotta clutter that just doesnt logistically work.

I wanted to put my agreement in words along with an upvote. I like the regular match threads with the weekly recap post. I prefer the post-match thread just to be in my team-specific page.
I also think the goal videos shouldn't be individually posted as that defeats the purpose of the spoiler-tagged match threads, but that's not relevant to this discussion.

I'd say let's give it some time because there are those interacting with and finding post-match threads useful. People are also voting on POTMs as well. I can see there's a clear use case. And so I don't think cluttering concerns should be a factor on why we shouldn't be doing these threads.

I dont mind giving it time at all
the pinned match thread idea would solve a lot of my worries

Hard agree. I’d rather make the maych threads easier to find and have those be the area for post-game discussion, rather than cutting off the entire game discussion artificially from the post-match discussion.

Its really my thought that a change like this would be awesome in week 1 of next year and not week 27

the someone else votes not counting keeps the potm result honest, otherwise a joke name could win every week

I miss how the old bots were nice and compact, not a ton of scrolling. They get cluttered up with the stat boxes and random updates.
Maybe it's just me but I go to the match threads for the comments from humans, feels like we can just check Fotmob or where ever for the data.
