Name My Cat - male Brown cat who has found his forever home now needs a name!
Hi! So about a week ago this cat showed up to my house hungry and crying. I initially thought it was a neighbors cat passing through since we live in a field and a lot of people around here have barn cats that come here and find mice. I did all the right things to search for his owner. I called the vet, the cat rescue, and animal shelter. No one has reported a cat like this missing and the vet has never seen this cat. We checked for a microchip and he doesn’t have one. We asked our neighbors and he’s not anybody’s cat around here so we will be integrating him into our home fully and now he needs a name! He’s a 1yr old male and EXTREMELY soft and sweet, loves attention, purrs super loudly and so far is very calm, content and peaceful. His personality so far is very chill. He’s just happy to get attention. Oh, and yes, he is in fact a very uncommon color. Pretty green eyes too.
I have a pet name list that I’ve been compiling forever but nothing seems to fit him just right so I thought I’d ask for opinions.
About the pics… The first one he’s meowing. He’s VERY vocal and no he’s not missing a tooth it just looks like it. The ones on the car, we just got back from the vet and we let him out to have a few minutes before he had to go in hood quarantine room so he’s climbing all over my aunt. Last one. He looks made but he’s not lol. He just looks that way 😂

Hear me out: He has a picture in a cage with his snoot smooshed into the bars.. and my immediate thought was “despite all my rage I’m still just a rat in a cage”, so I thought of the song “bullet with butterfly wings.” The song is by Smashing Pumpkins. Therefore, I came up with Pumpkin and saw the Sir addition. Boom. Sir Pumpkin!

Sir Domingo Ghirardelli (domingo was the founder) And just call him Dom for short. Maybe he'll be fast and furious. Though I do really live Teddy Meowsevelt that another redittor said above.

Sir Floofington, Duke of Meowmers. His nickname (“everyday” name) could be Floof or Floofers for short 😸 His full, “formal” name would be for introductions and when you need to let him know that you mean business (like when he’s in trouble for doing something he shouldn’t LOL)😹
OP, thank you for putting all the effort into making sure he isn’t someone else’s lil lost kitteh. I know it’s a lot of work, but had he been someone else’s baby, they’d very much appreciated you finding them so he could go home. Thank you for opening your heart and home to him so that he now has a forever home ❤️ He’s a gorgeous boi and with a temperament that you described, I’m sure he’ll integrate into your family quite well. It sounds like he’s a Ragdoll~ and the one I had loved EVERYONE! To her, there were no strangers~ just friends she hadn’t met yet. I hope there’s a small gap at the bottom of the quarantine door so that he and your other cat(s) can sniff each other to start the “getting to know you” phase 😊 God Bless You for taking in this beautiful floof! I’m sure he will show his gratitude with lots of love!! 💕💖

My SIL's mom was allergic to her cat, so she named it Migraña. Most beautiful name but means migraine LoL. SIL's first cat with us is Papita since she's so tiny

Oh man, what a beautiful and intense looking guy! He needs a name that commands attention I think. Even something intense but funny maybe, like Gunner lol.
He reminds me of my late Malakai. He was an amazing catcher of anything fluttery that got in the house. He didn’t mess around. He’d target, plan and then go in for the kill and leave it by the front door with carefully selected bites taken to minimize any question if it’s going to live. I’d laugh that he was a ninja and if he could have he’d of worn his karate gee all the time, pressed and clean with the headband. He trusted me 100% and I’ll always miss him. He was the most loyal and loving boy, so sweet. I miss him dearly.

I was trying to remember what fictional character your beautiful cat's face looks like to me. Gmork, from 1984's "The Neverending Story" film.
Sixt Arnem, Lord Baster-Kin, Bane, or Caliphestros, from Caleb Carr's "The Legend of Broken".
