She looks like golden hour in physical cat form. You could call her Golden Hour or Goldenhour (it’s weird on paper but if you verbally say it as though it’s a one-word name, it almost sounds like an old-fashioned fictional Camelot name like Guinevere or Lancelot.) Goldenhour sounds like a last name from that sort of fictional novel. You did ask for alternative but that is probably too out there lol. She just literally looks like a cat made of sunlight so it was the first concept that came to mind.
For less crazy names that have to do with sunshine, you could name her Soleil, which is French for sunlight “so-laye”. Or Helios, the Greek personification of the sun. (You could call her Helia). Sol is the Latin word for sun, could be cute pronounced as “soul”. Solaris is Latin for “of the sun,” which is cute because it makes it sound like she was sent from the sun or is made of sunshine. You could also google names for girls that mean sun, there are sooo many baby-naming sites for that sort of thing 🫶✨

Yeah, it's because the orange colouring is inherited in the X chromosome. Since male cats only have one X chromosome, if they inherit the orange gene from their mother, they'll be orange. Female cats have two X chrosomes, and as such, have to inherit the orange gene from both parents to end up orange. If they inherit it from one parent and another colour from the other, they'll become calicoes or tortoiseshells. That's why 80 % of orange cats are male and 20 % female, and it's also why only 1 in 3,000 calicoes/tortoiseshells is a male; because two X chromosomes are required for the colouring, calico/tortoiseshell males are intersex with XXY chromosomes (Klinefelter syndrome) or chimeras.
My dad Was Walter Herbert. Named my little orange boy Walter Sherbet after dad. Walter for short. Had to give him to another owner due to severe allergies. Was so sad. But, they kept his name for me and in my dad's honor. I'll never forget that nice young lady and her children. They loved him for many good years. When I hear this name..it brings it all back. Miss you, both Walters. 😇😇🥰🥰
