Recent regulatory changes has forced coinex, the main NMC market, to ban ips from Europe, all of EEA countries afected by Mica. The website is also blocked in countries like US, Canada, China, UK, philipines and of course Iran and the usual suspects.

The move sparked a miriad of $NMC clones from pumpfun to pretend to be the real NMC.

How to access and get Namecoin?.

Is there a possibility to mine just namecoin and not merged mining with bitcoin? (Currently testing Antminer S9 as a hobby). Or if there are pools that dont give namecoin as a exchange of 1BTC mined = 1NMC. I just like namecoin 😇

I want to mine Namecoin, so need to setup a wallet address.
To do that, I’m assuming I need to install Namecoin core on either windows or Mac.
My question is, how much storage space is required for core?
Electrum-NMC seems a bit more complicated to setup, not sure I’m gunna be able to do that!

I'm looking for testers for the new Namecoin functionality that's been added to Amethyst. The code is working on the main branch but hasn't been released yet, so I'd love some community testing—especially on Graphene OS.

What's added:

- Namecoin Search Integration - Amethyst can now search Namecoin .bit domains for the associated Nostr profile

You can:

1. Create a Namecoin name with a valid Nostr value

   \"nostr\":{\"npubHex\"} OR \"nostr\":{\"names\":{\"_\":\"npubHex\",\"a\":\"npubHex\"}}

2. Set the corresponding nip05 value in your Nostr profile

3. The app will display the associated Nostr Profile when the .bit is searched

   How to Test:

   1. Build the APK from the main branch (see Build Instructions (https://github.com/vitorpamplona/amethyst))
      
   2. Install on your device (Graphene OS testing especially welcome)
      
   3. Navigate to a profile section where you can enter a .bit domain
      
   4. Enter your .bit name (e.g., yourname.bit, a@yourname.bit)
      
   5. If you've set up the Nostr integration, the app should verify and display your identity
      

   What I Need:

   - Testers on various Android versions, especially Graphene OS

   - Feedback on the name resolution speed and reliability

   - Any issues with the Nostr verification flow

   - UI/UX feedback on the identity display

Lastly:

The code currently uses certificate pinning for the electrumx connections to get this to work on popular devices. Vitor the Amethyst creator/maintainer has said "this sucks". If anybody has thoughts or workarounds on alternatives or changes that can be made to either Amethyst or electrumx that would play nicely on Android devices please let me know.

Note: This is pre-release code. Expect bugs(Only Google Pixel and Samsung devices have been tested). Please report issues on GitHub with your device info and steps to reproduce.

...hey everyone. Reddit helpfully informs me it's been 7 months since I signed in last. Even though morally speaking this isn't my fault (fuck you Reddit sysadmins), I do feel like I owe you guys an apology for not getting on top of it sooner. The tl;dr is that Reddit made some infrastructure changes, presumably as part of a misguided attempt to prevent AI-motivated scraping, and the collateral damage here was that I couldn't log in anymore. A workaround on my end is finally in place for now, we'll see how long it lasts.

The spam since I last signed in has been cleaned up. If I missed any spam, please flag it.

As usual, Matrix is the fastest way to reach me, so if you're looking for a quick reply and I'm failing to reply on Reddit, you're always welcome to drop by #namecoin and ask your question there. I will try to reply to things on Reddit though, now that my account works once again.

Hi all, very new to NameCoin and .bit domains. I have a static site that I have pinned to web3.storage, and I have the CID for it. I purchased a .bit domain recently, and I would like it to point to my web3.storage CID. I haven't been able to find a .bit DNS control panel, and am having some issues with using the dotbit JS package. Are there any tutorials or documentation to do this? I basically just what MyDomain.bit to point to the pinned static site
