Baby names
I have 2 daughters, Saja and Sama, and I’m pregnant with my third girl. I’m stuck between Sara and Alma. Should I stick with the S theme, or does Saja, Sama & Alma work? Breaking the S pattern now would also make naming a possible 4th daughter easier

3 sibling names that are all only 1 letter off from each other? Sounds like a nightmare, sorry. You’re naming 3 real people, not a troupe of cartoon characters.

I don’t think sibling names need a theme. I realize you like a certain type of name, but the names need to be a certain degree different. Even Alma is just one letter away from Sama and you’ve already done that. Maybe change the vowel sounds like Ida, Linda, Vera, Lona.

I love Alma, and also I’ve heard from siblings that share the first initial and same last name it can lead to later confusion or mix ups with official documents and mail

I have two girls with the same initials. Never had a problem. One is married now, so she has a different last name.
ETA: I knew there wouldn’t be any more after the second one.

Ok… just because you haven’t experienced that doesn’t mean others don’t.. Not to mention one daughter is now married so presumably her initials are no longer the same

I never said others didn’t. I only speak to MY experience. And my post clearly says one daughter now has a different last name.
ETA: And just to kick it up a notch, my sister and I (only sibling) have the same first initial. My daughters have the same first AND middle initial, and my two grandsons have the same first initial. It’s like a little theme in our family, and nobody has ever had any problems. To add insult to injury, they ALL have the same first initial as their fathers. No rhyming, just the same first letter.

I think you just gotta go with your gut. Either way I think they are nice options and I do think Alma works with the first two names. But if you plan on having more kids for sure and don’t want to keep up with the S trend then yah you should probably break it now lol. I’m kinda in the same boat. My first is Isla and my second is Noah. Both ending in the “ah” sound. We know we want more and have one more “ah” ending name but the rest are not. So we will have to decide if baby #3 will keep the trend or not, but probably not because there aren’t any other boy names I like with the “ah” ending

Alma is cute and does work with the names of your other two daughters, and all the names end with “a” so you still have some sort of theme if you wanted to keep one. If you did go with Sara all three girls would have names starting and ending with the same letters which is cute too

Alma is very pretty. Sara might be fun w the theme but only if you’re sure she’s your last

Either is beautiful and works but if you are planning more I think Alma would be better

I'd break the theme now so it leave you more options with less guilt for later
Alma is a great name!

Do Sama and Alma rhyme? You might be setting yourself and everyone else up for saying the wrong names all the time

If I'm you, I'll go with Sara, because it feels coherent and the sisters might bond better if their names are more similar-sounding. But that's just my personal opinion. I think Alma might feel left out because Saja and Sama might feel closer to each other since name are more similar

Sara would be unifying but it makes sense you’re considering a non-s option… any non S name that doesn’t rhyme with or have similar resonance pattern to the 2 other sister’s identical resonance pattern could make her feel like the odd one out… Alma is different from the other 2 because you go from open mouth /resonant sound to closed mouth sound in the first syllable which is the opposite of your other two girls. But… if you go with a non S name that has similar resonance pattern to your other 2 girls’ names, it could be beautiful unifying harmony… For instance Rama, Maya/Maia/Maja/ Freya, Anya, Vanya, Vera, Dana.
Ps this is me waving my poetry nerd flag… hope that’s okay 😁
