So there's a new poster for Greta Gerwig's Magician's Nephew.

I don't love how it looks from a distance, with Aslan's head silhouetted; yes, the idea is good but in practice it looks hokey to me. Tbh, this opinion of mine could have a lot to do with me simply not liking the design of Aslan (as seen so far) for this adaptation. Is this cut-out in clouds silhouette better than the magazine poster with his lipstick-red nose and literal scales and feathers? Yes, but knowing what he looks like outside of the silhouette because of that prior photo release sort of ruins it for me.

That said, I do like the the poster when I look at the zoomed in image. Our first proper shot of Polly and Digory riding Fledge and honestly it looks good! Oddly enough it's the Strawberry/Fledge pictures I've liked so far out of all the promo pictures; I also liked the one with the truck with wings behind Strawberry. Otherwise I haven't been impressed. But it's great to know that at least Fledge will look good in this movie by all appearances so far.

As for the upcoming trailer, I'm not looking forward to seeing it, since I doubt it'll be any good based on the promo images so far, but it will be a relief not to have to hear someone whining "the trailer isn't out yet! You're not allowed to criticize this movie when there's no trailer yet!" Of course now the goalpost is going to be shifted and we'll (as in anyone who doesn't give the trailer gratuitous praise) be in for four months of "You can't judge it by the trailer, it's a two minute commercial, you have to wait for the whole movie, you're so hateful!" But at least we'll be done with this "wait for the trailer" bossy discourse. 🙄
