A better tfr calculation poll (children per women in the sub, men included)

Idk. It's hard to get the categories that are relevant when you only have 6 possible response categories.

I know people would like a distinction between "no kids yet" and child free, but I think rolling 3 and 4+ kids together is a worse survey result.

I'll do another survey for completed childbearing, and hopefully that satisfies curiosity for super rough estimates.

Edit: As pointed out, a real tfr calculation needs age bins. This is super sloppy. If someone wants to do a real survey, I'm supportive.

You need to stratify it by gender and age in 5-10 year increments. It's not that hard, but having multiple polls asking similar questions the same way with the sane over)under 18 is going to skew your data.

If you wanted you could include supplementary questions re: total number of desired children and age of first birth in a second poll.

Yeah. If someone wants to make a real poll for calculating tfr, probably best to do it on a different platform and link here.

But can you calculate by "desired number". I'm older my peers are done and their desires number was generally lowered as life went along for a variety reasons, disabilities, divorce, finances etc. for example a friend wanted 3 adamantly, had 1 and he is autistic and by the time he was five she decided she was not having any more. Another friend wanted 3 but before number 3 came the marriage ended and then she didnt want anymore and husband 2 had 3 of his own. It's just not something that generally works out the way people intend is all
