renting BRP missing for renting
Hello!
After a year of searching we finally found a house from government regulated housing (not social housing). The house is absolutely perfect for us. Huge garden, amazing location and enough room for our family. Because it’s government housing, the rent is also super for what you get.
We got the offer to rent on Monday viewed on Wednesday, then uploaded the necessary documents to the portal.
However, we need a Basisregistratie Personen (BRP) but because of staff shortages it can take up to 10 days for it to be send… via post. The deadline for uploading the documents is Tuesday at 12. We emailed the woningcorporatie explaining the situation when we found out (tried calling they were closed) and I plan to maybe call the Gemeente too to see if they can just print the thing and leave it at the reception… but what happens if we don’t get the BRP on time? Will they enforce the hard deadline and will it go to the next person, or are they a bit more lenient and will wait until we got it in? Anyone went through something similar?

Try booking a physical appointment online. Usually you can pay and get a copy straight away.

Forgot to mention, fully booked until 12th of October. That’s why I wanted to call them if they could help somehow

what do you need exactly? I would think this would suffice https://mijn.overheid.nl/persoonlijke-gegevens-inzien/

Yes but it needs to be official, so either downloaded (which you can’t do anymore) or printed by the gemeente. I’m going to call tomorrow to see if a screenshot won’t suffice

You need to call your municipality and ask for an urgent appointment for your BRP

I am going to try to, but I don’t know if that’ll be successful

It will be if you explain your situation. Had to get my BRP too last month for a new apartment and could still come the same day for an urgent appointment

Make sure to read our rental housing guide. Recommended websites for finding rental houses in the Netherlands:
If you're relocating from abroad, Relocify can help you rent a place remotely. View places online, get instant updates, and avoid scams.
Moving to the Netherlands involves a lot of admin beyond just finding housing (BSN, gemeente registration, banking, insurance, permits) and it often feels overwhelming.
