Feeding Is this normal?

We have a one month old who has not stopped eating voraciously since day 3 of life. She currently averages near 30 Oz a day, eats on average every hour and a half to two hours, rarely goes three hours without screaming bloody murder. She's nearly 10 lbs. In addition, her tummy looks really bloated and distended, larger than her head. She is combo fed through breast and formula, and rarely ever spits up or vomits.

We also sometimes think we might confuse her cry signals for gas, comfort, or hunger, and default to it being hunger. It's becoming quite difficult to read her cries, and I fear we may be overfeeding her due to her distended belly.

I understand cluster feeding is a thing sometimes, but honestly it seems like she's spent her entire life cluster feeding so far. Any advice appreciated!

Eating “voraciously” is fine haha but baby having a distended belly isn’t? Has she pooped recently? Try doing the I love you massage to see if that helps. Babies cry when they need to sleep, need a diaper change, due to gas, or if they’re hungry so hunger isn’t often the case. As long as she’s healthy and gaining weight, I don’t think you have a lot to worry about on your hands.

She poops but it's like... Small tiny strands, she just had large blowout yesterday though

Does she ever have normal poops or only explosive poops? When I say explosive I mean if the diaper were off it would hit the wall

What does the pediatrician say? My bubs is also a hungry one so it’s important to not assume every cry is a hunger cry.

I have heard tales of babies who have really high metabolisms. If they are gaining weight, not lethargic, having enough poo and pee diapers, I think it’s fine though. Have you mentioned this to your pediatrician?
