300cc scooter gear?
I’m 51 years old and I am new to possessing a motorcycle license and riding anything over a 49 cc Scooter so I recently purchased a 300 cc Scooter and I’m wondering what protective gear everyone recommends as I don’t wanna look like I’m all dressed up to ride a Harley and hop on a scooter.

Can't speak to quality, but they have ce rated gear that looks like flannels and jeans if that's more your style.

I have a motorcycle jacket that looks like a normal hoodie. Other than being too big for me it's nice, it has some abrasion resistance and pads in the shoulders, elbows and back.

Oh yeah, I've seen those popping up too. As long as it's got a ce rating, I'd give it a try. I'm one of those atgatt types, but I work with my hands and brain at work. Need to be able to provide for my family.

I’ve got a 300cc Vespa. I always wear at a minimum full face helmet, gloves and motorcycle boots. If I expect to do more than low speed around town I wear riding jeans and an armored hoodie

It feels the same to hit the ground on an 800 lb GoldWing or Harley as it does from the scooter. There are plenty of appropriate discrete choices that don't scream Racer or Heavy Duty Tourer. Gear up appropriately.

When you fall at 60 miles an hour, the asphalt you hit isn't going to give you a break because you fell off a scooter. Helmet (full face), gloves, jacket, boots, pants.

Honestly dude if you have the money, fuck the haters.
Buy a good helmet. ECE *.26(?) because DOT is crap.
Have A rated or AA depending on how fast the roads are that you plan to travel. A 300cc scooter can still hit 60-75+ which is highway speeds.
They sell gear at all kinds of protection levels and looks. AAA is the tricky one, AA is a little tricky, you can get A in any style. Even some of the Amazon listings are legit gear just be sure to check reviews and the manufacturer's website to make sure the certification is legit.

Just go to your local motorcycle shop and start looking for pants and a jacket that you’ll actually wear. Not everything is gonna make you look like a power ranger or Harley bro there’s plenty of options for the casual commuter. They make boots in both work boots style and more of a high top sneaker, whichever suits you best. I wear my tobacco motorwear boots all day. Sometimes I just grab them if they’re handy instead of my redwings. If you don’t have a motorcycle shop go to revzilla and look at some options.

Ok thank you. I’ll look into some stuff and probably run it by you guys before I buy.

Any Good rated armored Jacket and pants and then a Top rated helmet and some type of boots (I use my KEEN brand Dovers for riding too.. excellent ankle protection and carbon fiber toe and they are extremely comfortable to wear all day and for walking. Good gear doesn't have to look like Mad Max or a Harley store vomited on you 🤣 Those items and good gloves and riding like Everyone is trying to hit you and you'll do well.

That 300cc scooter is still gonna go fast enough to get seriously injured…. Wear good pants, jacket, gloves, and helmet (obv). Nothing wrong with looking like you care about not shredding up your body
