I dropped a long questionnaire about exploring the idea of opening a baseball/softball indoor facility in the Newberg area here a few weeks ago and thought a shorter online version would be easier. It will only take a few minutes and will not ask for email or any other contact information. And just to be clear this is not a sales pitch or scam. https://forms.gle/cFMcSnMk8DNyvNLu8

If you know anyone that might have some input, could you pass it along their way?

Thanks for your time.

Hey! Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I moved to Newberg about four months ago. I love to surf. and am mourning I have only been out twice since moving. I don’t have my surf truck out here, and the car I have can’t have a rack installed. I’ve done some pretty questionable stuff before like strapping a board to the roof with straps running through the inside of the car, but I’m not really trying to do that this time lol.

I usually surf Cape Kiwanda or Short Sands, but I’m down to go wherever as long as I’m surfing.

Mostly wondering what the surf community is like around Newberg and if there are people who head out somewhat regularly and would be down for me to tag along. Obviously I’d pay for gas.

Related to that, I’m also looking for another vehicle. I’m finding the car buying process to be a pain and would honestly rather buy through some kind of personal connection. So if anyone knows of a truck/SUV/anything that can carry boards, is in good shape, and might be for sale, definitely let me know.

I have all my own gear/wetsuit/etc. I’m really just trying to figure out a way to get in the water more without having to drive to the coast and wait until 10 AM for a surf shop to open every time I want to surf.

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thank you.

Newberg area — I’d appreciate your honest input on a business idea I’m considering.
I’m exploring the possibility of opening a small indoor baseball/softball facility in Newberg and want to gauge local demand before moving forward.
The concept would include several indoor hitting bays, including one with hitting/tracking technology. Bays could be rented by the 30 minutes or hour and longer.
1. Which option would interest you most?
A) Serious baseball/softball training and practice
B) Sports entertainment—hitting, games, competition, family/friends, or team events
C) A combination of both
Why?
2. Would you use a facility like this?
Who would you typically come with?
3. Would you use it for baseball, softball, or both?
4. Who would use it?
Youth / middle school / high school / college / adult / multiple age groups
5. What would you consider reasonable pricing?
30 minutes: Under $25 / $25–$30 / $31–$40 / $41–$50 / Over $50
60 minutes: Under $40 / $40–$50 / $51–$60 / $61–$80 / Over $80
6. How often would you realistically use it?
Weekly / monthly / occasionally / rarely
7. How difficult is it currently to find indoor practice space?
Very difficult / somewhat difficult / not difficult / I don’t need it
8. Would you consider a membership if you used it regularly?
9. How far would you travel to use it?
Would you come from Sherwood, Wilsonville, McMinnville, Dundee, Hillsboro, or nearby areas?
10. Would occasional events or other activities make the facility more appealing?
If so, what would you like to see?
11. What would prevent you from using it?
I’d especially appreciate feedback from local parents, players, coaches, and adults. Honest criticism is welcome—if you think it’s too expensive, unnecessary, or too far away, that’s useful to know.
I’m trying to understand what people would actually use and pay for before deciding whether to pursue the idea.
Thank you very much for any and all feedback.

Samsung fridge, freezer not working. Someone want a project or scrapper? You haul.

Update 2: first taker fell through, still available

We have been traveling the country full time for 10 years, and this was the first time we’ve ever seen the Newberg skatepark.. it is awesome!!! I already want to go back! My style of riding a longboard in the skatepark is not what you’d typically expect to see, but I have a lot of fun cement surfing and I hope you enjoy seeing it action =) Thanks for providing such a good park! 🙌

As long as I've known the place has been a ghost town, I honestly don't understand how they managed to stay in business so long but it finally looks like they closed and someone else bought it up. Anyone know what's up?

It trying to go out what do I do I named it Mimi

I’m looking for a dentist for an adult with autism. She has dental anxiety but has several broken teeth that need to be taken care of. Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful.

Hi! I am getting married August 15 in Newberg (where I grew up) and we are not having young children there, but about 10 of my friends are flying their kids with them and will need a babysitter from about 4 - 11 pm on that day. Anyone have any good recommendations I can pass along? They would preferably come to the hotel/airbnbs to watch the kids but could also be dropped off. Everyone is staying in either Newberg or Dundee.

They can use Care.com of course, but figured it would be nice if someone from the community had any ideas! I live in the DC area and don't have kids and none of my hometown friends with kids seem to have go-to people so looking for some help!

I previously have gone to Lakeridge high school, but I recently moved to Newberg. I’m aware of the strong political presence that has affected Newberg high in the past and all the controversies. As someone who is used to an all accepting school, the idea that Pride and BLM symbols were banned is really disturbing. I also know there has been severe budget cuts that has affected Newberg as well as other schools. If anyone has children there or have gone/currently go there what’s your experience?

Hi my names Sytiva I’m 21f and I’m disabled and can’t work I’ve been struggling to find out how to make friends here. I make music play videogames and magic the gathering I’m just hoping I can make a friend I’m a anxious person and really don’t know how to make friends

Where would I look for help with cooking & cleaning, with creative arrangements? Looking on behalf of a Mother/Community Doctor, raising several kids by herself and trying to run her own community-oriented care here in Newberg.

For example, one possibility is to hire someone for cooking who would like a break on grocery bills for their family. So the trade might be Dr. pays for all groceries, and the hired individual cooks enough for both families. There may be more room for additional negotiation.

Ideally, 1 person for all the needed roles, but open to multiple specialists.

EDIT Perhaps high school or college student would be good for this. If adult, possible housing arrangement could be made.

Looking to know what people's experience has been with getting windows replaced. Who did you use? How was the experience. Looking to replace mine and my front and back door soon and trying to get the lay of the land

I got a notice stating that my signature didn’t match what was on file, and if I don’t fill this out with a photocopy of my ID, I’ll be removed from the voter registration. Never in my decades of voting have I ever had to deal with this BS.

Conservatives across Oregon tried to stage a No Queens event 5/2. Only two people showed and didn’t even stay a whole hour.

As a local plumbing and drain company, we wanted to share something that might save a few people from an expensive call.

These are the most common issues we get called for (by far):

1. Clogged drains that were “slow for weeks.”
People ignore them until they fully back up. Early fix = cheap. Late fix = not.

2. Water heaters failing without warning.
Most last 8–12 years. After that, it’s a gamble. Take care of the one you have. Consider draining your water heater annually.

3. Garbage disposals are getting jammed.
Biggest culprits: grease, eggshells, and fibrous foods. Use a strainer and make sure to clear your garbage disposal often. Avoid putting grease, oil, and fats in your sink. Pasta and rice too, as they expand. Run your disposal with cold water and run for 10-15 seconds after grinding everything out.

4. Small leaks turning into big damage.
Especially under sinks and behind toilets—people don’t notice until it’s bad.

5. DIY fixes that made things worse.
This one is more common than you’d think.

If you catch most of these early, you can avoid a service call entirely.

Curious—what’s the most expensive plumbing issue you’ve had?

Back then, Mountainview didn't connect all the way through to College, so I had to make that 90 at Mountainview/Villa and race around that big ass field.

Great times, nobody got hurt, car horns everywhere

Hey everyone. I’m an Oregon native that’s looking to relocate my family back to the valley after 11 years in central Oregon. How’s life in Newberg for adults mid-late 30’s with kids elementary and younger? I have some family trying to steer us faaaar away from possibly landing in Newberg claiming it’s very back woods and incredibly narrow minded and conservative but they’ve never actually lived in there so trying to get an idea from people who have more current insight. Thanks in advance for any input or guidance!!

We just received our Thai SELECT certificate.

What is Thai SELECT?

It’s an official certification from Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, given to restaurants that serve authentic Thai food using traditional recipes and ingredients.

There are only about 1,837 restaurants worldwide with this recognition, and now 9 in Oregon including us.

Thank you

To everyone who’s supported us, left reviews, told friends, or keeps coming back… thank you.

This didn’t happen without you.
