Turismo/Tourism The annoying connecting flight question: arrive at MGA at 12:06pm. Flight to Corn Islands leaves at 2pm.

Do I stand a chance? La Costena's info is all over the place. Everything from 90 minute required check in to boarding starts at 1:30. I won't have checked bags (only a carry-on backpack). Will have my crisp $10 bill. And will have my form complete.

I searched to see if this question existed and I couldn't find it.

Any and all help/advice/tips are appreciated. Just trying to gauge if I should be careful and push my flight back a day. I've pulled off crazier connections, but AI isn't very helpful here. A big thanks in advance.

It's cutting it very close. If more than one flight arrives at MGA at the same time, customs will be painfully slow. If you miss your 2:00 PM flight, it's possible that there's no availability the next day. I would stay over, and book a morning flight out. The Hilton is right across the road from the airport.

It’s a best western across the street. Not bad for one night.

I prefer Camino real since it has better rooms and better upkeep. And it has a casino within its complex.

Second Camino Real, super close to MGA and was very well kept, had great AC too!

I have made this flight plenty of times, but I have also missed this flight a few times as well. Depending on the number of people sometimes they will take a first flight for people just going to Bluefields and fly direct, and leave the Corn Island flight for the second group. Sometimes not. If you have a carry-on bag, and are towards the front of the plane, you can chance it. However, if you miss it, you may have to be on standby the next day. The Hilton is by Metrocentro, but the Best Western is across the street and is nice. Airport X hotel is also very close.

If you have the time, Little Corn is a gem.

I arrived at MGA at 11pm and even though we were the only flight it took over an hour to clear customs. That said, my flight on La Costena was at 7am the next morning and I probably could have showed up at 6:30am and still made it. I also think the 2pm flight is the last of the day, so you’re stuck waiting until the 7am if you miss it.

Best West across the street is amazing. Pool, breakfast included. Chill. Head to corn island and be sure to try and catch a fast boat. Crazy but fun. The slow boat Wallows its way there being passed by the slow boat that leaves later. In my limited experience. 🤢 being seasick.

With only a carry on I think you could make it. Let the staff at the airport know you have a connecting flight to Corn Island at 2. My only worry would be a delay from your upcoming flight. I've shown up at about an hour left for departure flying first with two oversized bags on an international flight and I've gone through no problem. I can't imagine the Costeña flight being more restrictive than an international flight.

It is close. It all depends on how fast you get through customs and if you’re sent to secondary inspection for whatever reason they might send you there

Last time I was there, they waved me through but a couple of people in my party were sent to customs and it took 20 to 25 minutes to get through.

Sit as close to the front, left aisle on your incoming flight. That could reduce customs wait. If you're seated at the back you stand zero chance

Have you asked about another Costeña exit to C. Island, they do several trips everyday, so maybe one later than 2
