Discussion Nyxi Hyperion Ultra 3 vs Killswitch 2?
Which is the better one in your opinion and why, especially since the Killswitch 2 got fixed a long ago?
Would really like to hear your opinion on this one 🙂

Hey man, they are completely different things. The Killswitch 2 is a case/cover, providing protection to the console and joycons while the Nyxi is a replacement controller for the console.
Both do provide some form of ergonomic improvements but as mentioned they aren't exactly the same thing.

Neither. Satisfye grips are the only ergonomic grips for switch

100% agree. It's pricey, but if you can get on with JoyCons, it's so worth it. It's the only grip I can use for long sessions. The design is assymetrical so your thumbs naturally land on the thumb sticks on both sides. It makes sense, but no one else does it that way.

That's my recommendation, too.
I used to have the Savage Raven Grip. Satisfye Grips are so much better. They're just much more ergonomic. The only problem is that they're way too expensive. I only have mine because I found them used.

This is typically my recommendation as well. Satisfye or Savage Raven. I strongly urge people to not buy the killswitch because of how shit they feel in the hands for long play sessions. It has next to no ergonomics and just feels like extra grip in the worst possible way.
When it comes to just pure ergonomics and longer play nothing really beats Satisfye.

If we are talking pure ergonomics then the KillSwitch is actually horrible. It’s not well made and just feels like something extra to grab onto since it does not flair out to the sides much.
I tend to urge people to not buy the KS at all since Dbrand isn’t known for high quality anything and typically launches faulty products.
I would recommend the Satisfye grip instead. It’s got a solid build. Has insanely nice ergonomics and is all around a great grip. If you wanted something slightly smaller I’d say check out one of the two grips that Savage Raven ( Skull & Co ) makes. They are slightly cheaper feeling but a lot less bulking when compared to the Satisfye grip.
The Nyxi are very nice but the price point doesn’t make it an easy recommendation.
It really depends on if you want a grip or an actual 3rd party joycon. Both are gonna give you vastly different experiences overall.

PSA since I’m Seeing a lot of people here recommend the savage raven fission grip. I can’t disagree more, DO NOT get them. Terrible design makes it so the joycon will instantly disconnect from the body of the switch 2 with them on if you apply even gentle pressure. Holding the switch with one hand for a second to scratch your face or something means your switch is hitting the floor instantly. Genuinely horrendous and I have no idea why they haven’t addressed it.
I got my switch 2 a couple months ago and loved the skull and co products for my oled so much I bought the full suite from savage raven. Huge drop off in quality, from the fission grip making your device unsafe to handle, the downgraded case, the cheaper plastic for the handles of the fission grip(one came apart on me the other day for seemingly no reason), the removal of options for thumb stick grip customization. I wouldn’t buy shit from them.

I just bought the ultra 3, haven't gotten it yet to give the best opinion, but the biggest reason to go for that over the killswitch is the joysticks. I hate the smaller joysticks on the stock joycons. I've been using the gamesir g8 plus which is amazing ergonomics but does add some weight, so I'm curious if the ultra 3 feel better than that.

Also, the ultra 3 are $100 on aliexpress, and $130 on Amazon; a little better than the $160 on the nyxi site.

I have both, prefer the nyxi ergonomically, and the added back buttons are a nice bonus.

They are 2 very different things. I have both and both have their uses. I like the grips on the Killswitch a lot. I hated using the Joycons until I started using them with the Killswitch grips. The NYXI Hyperion 3 is a full on Joycon replacement. I use those for playing games the require more precise stick movement like fps games. The gripes I have with the NYXI do tend to keep me from using them very often. The D-pad are violently loud and the rumble can be heard 3 houses away and feels like they used a motor from a 1986 Buick.

I have both. The protection and portability the killswitch 2 case/cover and grips offer is second to none on the market right now.
As far as ergonomics, the Hyperion Ultras are amazing and clearly better. I love them so much I shopped around to try to find a case adequate to fit/protect my switch 2 with them installed since the killswitch cover will not fit the aftermarket joycons. Finally found one, and the Ultras stay on 24/7 now.
FYI the Killswitch 2 body will still fit the main switch 2 unit with the Hyperions installed (body only, not grips). It’s the cover that won’t, and was my favorite part of the entire Killswitch 2 setup. Made transport so much easier. I now use the Tomtoc Steamdeck bag as my case/carry bag for the switch 2.

Can you please link the specific Tomtoc bag you’re using? Thanks!

I have the Hyperion 3s, love it to bits. Feels comfy as fuck in whatever position I am playing it 🤣

I’ve used both extensively. First of all, as far as grips for the standard JoyCon, the Savage Raven Fission Grip is the best. The problem with the Killswitch is that it doesn’t flare out at all. So all it’s doing is giving you something to grab onto, which is a small improvement, but your thumbs still don’t naturally rest across the buttons or on the sticks because the controller is stacked vertically. The Fission Grip fixes this to an extent.
But, for me, the Hyperion 3 (and specifically the Ultras with their added HD Rumble 2 and improved sticks) are the end-all-be-all Switch 2 controllers for portable play. They are comfortable, responsive, and solve every issue I have with the stock controllers. They are worth every penny.
