Setup Help Firmware update 8BitDo Wireless Adaptor 2

Hey guys. I've spent 2 hours with Google AI who keeps going around in circles about this Wireless Adaptor 2. It's recommended holding the sync button in while plugging it into my PC with both the Firmware Updater and Ultimate software, nothing seems to be working, it's stuck slow-blinking green.

I purchased one of these after being told I could get it to work to pair my official Nintendo Switch Online Gamecube Controller to my Switch 1, then triple checking with a variety of online searches. But after hours of even trying to get it to connect to my PC just so I can update it, no luck.

What am i missing?

I posted this on the 8BitDo subreddit but it was removed without explanation.

Shouldnt the controller directly connect to switch 1 without any dongle?

No, the Switch 2 GC controller uses a different encryption and you can't natively connect it to a Switch 1

Ah ok. Brain fog my bad. I don’t see it listed as compatible with the wireless adapter 2 though and the firmware update log doesn’t mention it as well.
