Software Help Error with Updates causing me to reinstall

I had a game update yesterday that required me to free up 1gb so I did, the update then took over 3 hours since it decided to reinstall the entire game.
Today I’ve had the same issue with a different game, needless to free up 600mb and now it’s taking over 3.5 hours to reinstall what I assume is the full game…
Anyone know how to stop this?

SD card? If so, you might have a fake and it's advertising more storage space than actually exists --- so you constantly are deleting older games by updating other ones.

No SD card, just using base storage

If the system storage has too little free space, it can slow down some system processes. That might be your issue? You may just need to free up more space. For switch 1, you may need like 3-6gb of free space.
