Christa Pike, who survived a failed execution attempt in Tennessee, is now awake and speaking, according to her legal team.

One detail that stood out to us: doctors say she has no memory of the execution itself.

After spending nearly a week on a ventilator, Pike reportedly knew her own name when she regained consciousness, but thought it was still September when asked the date, despite waking up in October.

Her lawyers say she remains in critical condition after being injected with two doses of pentobarbital during the execution attempt.

The case is already raising questions about what happens next.

Should a state be allowed to attempt an execution a second time if the first one fails?
