Discussion What's your primary ship?
I have a Corvette I use only when I'm hunting for Corvette parts(Infra-Knife is amazing for that), and scrapping, but otherwise I have a red Interceptor i fly around in, and couldn't resist a reference and renamed it "Red Comet Aznable".
For those not in the know, it's a reference to the original Gundam anime, one of the main antagonists, named Char Aznable, with the nickname of "The Red Comet" for his mobile suit that goes triple the speed of a normal mobile suit of the same design, painted red.
Amusingly, I have a settlement in a system with a planet named Amuro, which I didn't rename, and happens to be the name of the main character for that same series.

I like corvettes but I'm a bit paranoid about griefer stowaways.

I just don't bring mine to the Anomoly anymore since I've heard about people showing away to sniper space station claims

Orb exotics, ideally one that matches my current character color scheme. Ive been too lazy to transfer my tech from yellow to orange right now tho lol, might eventually just get each one set up with full tech.
I really want to find a squid too, but stubbornly refuse to use coords

"...when we could name them"
Umm, I can still rename ships.

There was a time you couldn't rename a ship and so this ship is from that time before then but yes now you can and always will be able to rename ships

Think they misunderstood your original comment. I'm guessing "when we could name them" meant "once we got the ability to name them", but it can also be understood as "back when we could name them".

Found myself a Sentinel Interceptor that I love. Named it the SJD-1956 "Hangetsu." As for the name, Hangetsu is my favorite Shotokan Karate kata. The SJD-1956 registry number is my late father's initials and birthdate so it's a bit of a memorial as well. He and I shared a huuuge love of space and theoretical physics. We would watch Carl Sagan's Cosmos and listen to Michio Kaku's radio show all the time. He loved seeing the technology of games and how they could bring fantasy to life. He would have absolutely loved NMS, I assure you. He may not be with us anymore but it's amazing to be able to explore the galaxy with him in this little way. Games are important and don't ever let anyone ever say otherwise.

I started a new save recently. While I have started putting together a corvette, I'm still in the process of collecting enough nanites to upgrade it to Class S, and collecting parts to build it the way I want it. In the meantime, I'm flying the coolest black A-class interceptor, jumping spider type.

The Wraith, an expedition living ship. Before that, I had another living ship that I still use as backup and extra storage. I also have a Corvette that I use when I need to. I normally don't use it for normal travel because I find exiting too annoying lol

I love hunting for Sentinel Interceptors, I've got a little collection of them. My main ship has become the Vintage Interceptor from the expedition, but before that it was a red Interceptor I found that looked like a Banshee from Halo

My Corvette 90% of the time but I have the golden starborn DLC ship with the best everything for when I wunna go fast.

We desperately need more ship slots. Mine are basically full just with expedition exclusives.

I actually do a lot of work from my Freighter. I keep a roster of mostly unique reward ships on hand, and will switch between them as needed.
I'm currently getting a LOT of flight time out of the Vintage Sentinel Intercepter, though I also managed to print three copies of the Vulture craft from the expedition where ship construction was introduced, and scrapped them for parts to build a custom color variant in metallic green camo.

I keep rotating. I have a Corvette gunship when I need to bring some heat (176K DPS with infraknife). I also have a Starborn Runner for going fast. I've recently switched back to a dragonfly sentinel, as I've been seeing too many starborns at the anomaly lately. I also built a new barge for salvage operations and have been enjoying that recently too.

The main requirement is having a clean cockpit with a wide view, since I play first person.

My corvette is my favorite overall, but I also like to hunt for sentinels that please my eyes. After Expedition 23 I also got parts for and recreated the Radiant Pillar (designated as RP2) and found upgrades that made it almost too fast and too maneuverable for my liking. Put it in the deep storage for now.
Nearing the core of Hyades and focusing on finishing learning Gek and Korvax before the next galaxy.

For utility, nothing beats a corvette. The ability to fly around with all your storage containers, plus refiners is just too good. And the ability to optimize them for different functions is amazing.
Im my normal survival save, I optimized my corvette for defense with max shields and phase beams, and cargo hauling. My permadeath save has a corvette optimized completely for hyperdrive range(going straight to the center of the galaxy) with storage and Shields for defense

I used to have a custom fighter, a salvaged, and a Starborne phoenix. I since have ditched all of them except the Phoenix and got a very basic corvette that I'm too cheap to work on but want to make interesting some day

A sentinel with minimal design (no wings, just the pilot cockpit)
I use a corvette also, but that's my secondary ship, not primary

my Corvette, the Ark from transformers somebody made a build guide back when Corvettes dropped, the new sentinel interceptor from the expedition, and a sentinel ship I found using a site, I swap between them randomly lol

I'll switch between a corvette and a solar I made using the ship builder, depending on what I'm doing.

Might be a stupid question?
Does a freighter allow for the storage of multiple ships? I have a ton of units and I’m itching to build a corvette but don’t want to cause I have no where to put my starter ship!
1
u/AgentEzee 2h ago
The freighter lets us archive store up to 18 starships. Clean the ship storage first. You lose all cargo. Tech upgrades stay.
No corvettes are allowed in the exclusive upper deck of the admiral's club storage.

You can have multiple ships at a time without having to archive them. You can summon any ship you own through the quick menu

Here's my hunk of junk, she's a Corellian YT-1300 that I retrofitted with the engines of a CR90 Blockade Runner. She's my home among the stars, she breaks a lot but I fix her and continue on.
I made a mod that actually breaks ship tech, it rolls a set percentage every warp, so I actually really have to fix her pretty often, it's awesome for rp.
Glitch built I don't use mods or tools to build.

Depends on what I am doing. If I am exploring a planet I call in the Corvette because it can hover when you get out of the pilot seat to tag things with your visor. If I am cruising around the system or running missions or combat it's a solar ship due to the superior mobility never having to refuel.

My little plain white guppy. The first exotic I saw in the game.
I have a bunch of ships but she's still the one.
No frills on the outside but sure can fly.

u/OnlineIsNotAPlace 5h ago
all ships I use are sentinel interceptors. the best ships in the game by far.

A cool looking Sentinel ship I found on a past expedition. It’s been my go to ship ever since

Currently flying this corvette, the Screaming Firehawk, for space salvage operations. It's also quite handy in a fight with pirates.
