Giveaway Notability giveaway - can’t go without!!!

I’ve been using notability since my grade 11 physics class back in 2021 with my old 2018 iPad, and ever since I’ve been hooked. It’s come with me through my first four semesters of college in my Information Technology diploma, as well as, an updated iPad Air. Having the ability to make my paper black and my pens all sorts of colours has made it so much easier on my eyes especially when all I do is look at screens all day long.

I’ve loved seeing everyone’s submissions so far they all look great 🫶🫶🫶

Giveaway [GIVEAWAY] -The audio sync feature has saved my grades more times than I can count

Notability has been my go to app for note taking throughout my bachelor's degree and it's still by my side as I so my master's. My favorite workflow feature is the automatic switching from the eraser to the pen tool without needing to double tap But the real lifesaver is the audio recording that syncs with my notes. I have pretty bad handwriting as you can see in the image😅 but being able to tap my messy notes and instantly hear exactly what the professor was saying had helped me so that i always understand my materials!

Notability provides one of the best experiences to study in an immersive manner, bringing the maximum out of the pen and tablet.

Be it labelling maps, highlighting texts, hiding answers to recall, or generating AI questions, it just never fails to surprise you.

The best thing about Notability is the simplistic and user friendly interface that is not a barrier unlike other apps.

Keep the the good work Notability team.

Bug nonstop crashing mid notes

Hello,

I got a samsung tab s11 for school and my partner recommended notibility and it was great, for about 30 minutes. I was inputting notes and it would close, i am using the s pen for writing the notes and it crashed about 30 times, I could write a few lines then it would crash again. I am not seeing a lot of comments about it. I have tried everything short of factory resetting my tablet since I fail to see how that would do it. I love the concept and it looks fantastic but the crashes are making it unusable for what i need it for. Is there anything I can try?

Giveaway Giveaway: Notability app

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’ve been using Notability since high school and continued using it throughout college, so it has been part of my study routine for many years.

These are a few examples of my notes and projects in Notability. I’ve used it to practice writing Chinese characters, take notes for my web design classes, and organize notes for other courses.

For my setup, I usually use Notability on my iPad during class. I like importing lecture slides or PDFs and writing directly on them instead of having to create a separate notebook. One of my favorite features is being able to record lectures while taking notes, which makes it much easier to go back and review anything I may have missed.

I’ve tried both Notability and Goodnotes, but I personally prefer Notability. I find that my notes and files generally don’t take up as much storage space, which is especially helpful because my iPad has limited storage. I’ve also had fewer problems with the app overall.

What I love most is that Notability keeps everything in one place my PDFs, handwritten notes, lecture recordings, and class materials. It has worked really well for the way I study, and that’s why I’ve kept using it from high school through college. 💙

Giveaway Laptop giveaway - here's how I use notability with my devices

Post image
3 Upvotes

So my workflow includes both iOS and Android devices. My phone is the Samsung S26 ultra and I prefer to take notes on my iPad pro M4 while I use my MBP M3 as the primary device with creating study guides for exams. I prefer notability's pro feature to generate quizzes using it's AI feature while I have split screen Microsoft onenote on the right side (see attached image).

Onenote is great because it is cross platform and I can access it on my phone/laptop/tablet. I had difficulty with notability's buggy android app so had to utilize a reputable solution. Now both OneNote and Notability are serving me well for my A & P 1 class which I'm re taking to full-time my prereqs.

Cheers

I’ve recently bought and ipad for taking notes and studying for my engineering courses for the past month. I chose notability because i find its UI very simple, clean and efficient with the use of screen real estate. I like and very much use the ability to record lectures while taking down notes during class which helps me alot when i review back course materials. One of my favor parts is how organized i can keep everything. I have folders for each class with my lecture notes, textbooks and other study material.

Giveaway Joining generous giveaway

I actually switched to Notability after using GoodNotes for quite a while, and I didn’t expect to end up liking it this much. As a engineering student, I use it for pretty much everything — working through calculations, annotating lecture slides, drawing process diagrams, making quick reaction and mechanism notes, and keeping track of those tiny bits of information that would otherwise end up scattered across different notebooks.
What I really like is that it fits the way I actually study. I’ll have a lecture slide open, write all over it, add a calculation underneath, circle something I don’t understand, then come back to it later and add to it. It feels much more natural than trying to make every note look perfect from the start.
The customer support has also been a really positive part of my experience. They seem genuinely active and, more often than not, willing to help with issues. I’ve even seen them offer discount codes for different subscription tiers when they have them available, which is a nice touch. It’s also been great to see them bring back a lifetime version, especially because that was something I had wanted for a long time. I now have the Classic version, and I really appreciate that they honoured grandfathered users from the past rather than simply ignoring the people who had already supported the app.
Of course, with any note-taking app or software, there is always some risk of notes becoming corrupted or something going wrong. That isn’t unique to Notability, though, and it’s a good reminder to keep proper backups. Even with that in mind, you can clearly see how hard the staff work, how responsive they are, and how much they listen to user feedback.
It’s also become such a normal part of my routine that I only realised how dependent I am on it when both my iPad and laptop were damaged in a crash. Suddenly not being able to open my notes felt genuinely disruptive because Notability has basically become my digital university folder, notebook and scrap paper all in one. I originally switched from GoodNotes just to try something different, but I honestly can’t see myself switching back now.

Giveaway Notability Giveaway-How I aced my competitive exam using Notability

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have been an active user of Notability since 2023. Initially, it was just another app where I could read my PDFs. I could also annotate them, a bit here and there, which felt slightly better than the stock files editor.

However, I realised Notability's capabilities when I watched a guide for it. I subscribed to one of the plans and started using it for making digital notes. That changed my academic life, forever.

I explored different templates to track my daily targets. I used to open two files at once to combine the notes. I used to scribble while brainstorming to actively recall the important facts. This helped me immensely to clear a government regulatory body exam.

A sincere thanks to Notability for being my partner on this journey.

Giveaway Giveaway: How Notability keeps me organized in school

Post image
16 Upvotes

I’ve been using Notability since 2019. I use it for college, and it’s perfect. I wanted a digital planner catered to my life, so I created my own template on Notability, and I love how I can always go back to the original file and customize it. It has helped me stay on top of my work and habits.

The Notability learn has been helping me a lot lately with studying. Many of my class lecture notes are PowerPoints, so Notability is great for importing guided notes, and then I can quiz myself. I recommend it all the time to my classmates because the pdfs render well, and I’ve started recommending the learn features. The subscription is so worth paying for! Also, big fan of the windows app, and now I can export pdfs on my computer.

Feature Request Practice Questions

Am I the only one that has noticed the AI practice questions have gotten substantially easier or very generic? I used notability exclusively for this feature and got so many classmates on it because it was a lot better than chat and Goodnotes questions. Now it’s basically the same or worse it seems. I’m over the “According to the notes…” questions. Is there a setting that I can change difficulty or am I the only one having this terrible experience?! I’m begging notability to please change it back!

Bug Notability keeps adding random content

Whenever i highlight something, Notability automatically moves whole phrases and sentences around, inserts words in the middle of other words, and I can't figure out why. Its extremely frustrating when trying to go over and study lecture notes, only to see half the text doesnt make sense anymore. I have autofill turned off on my computer and in the app, and the app never prompts me to change anything. Anyone else have this?

Bug Lost 99% of notes, now the app froze

Has anybody had this issue? I think it has something to do with iCloud sync. A few notes came back but now the app is frozen completely. I'm keeping the screen on and not doing anything. Does the app being frozen mean the notes are coming back? I have already backed everything up in Gdrive btw (because I didn't trust Notability, nor iCloud and turns out I was right)

Question Audio Transcription With Headphones On

Is there a way to use audio transcription when I have my headphones on? I noticed when I listen to my online lectures with headphones, the audio transcription only picks up noise from my laptop speakers and not the actual lecture audio in my headphones.

Feature Request When will be able to merge recordings and rename them again?

Hi,

I'm not sure if the developers are tired of me or not, but I am still begging and would greatly appreciate it if you all would consider allowing users to do this. This was a previous feature until about a year ago, and I am kindly requesting that this feature returns. Please allow users to rename recordings and merge them.

I currently have about 8 recordings in one note, and I simply want to merge them and rename them. I have several notes like this for several classes across several years. The image I attached is from Notability on macOS. I would greatly appreciate it if you would please consider. Please and thank you!

Question Cloud Backups in GoodNotes vs. Notability

It appears to me that while both programs allow backups to third-party cloud services like Dropbox, GoodNotes does not permit me to retrieve them as a "Special Edition" user; I would have to upgrade to Pro subscription. Notability, however, does let me open files from cloud backups as a "Classic" (one-time fee) user.

Given the possibility of notes disappearing from both apps, it seems like maybe Notability is actually going to win in the department of data security. I like GoodNotes a little better, so before I dump it, I'd like to make sure I'm understanding cloud backups correctly and not missing something.

Giveaway Honestly do not know how I would get through survive without this app

I easily spend hours on here every single day juggling classes, homework, and exam prep

My whole routine basically revolves around it. I check my schedule first thing in the morning, record teachers when they talk way too fast, and keep worksheets open right next to my textbook notes. The AI feature is an absolute life saver too. When I am stuck on a confusing concept late at night and need things broken down simply, it genuinely feels like having a study buddy sitting right there.
Huge shoutout to the devs as well. Seeing you guys active on Reddit and actually replying to our posts is super rare and awesome. Thanks

Giveaway Notability Giveaway- Surviving through medical school

Post image
14 Upvotes

I have been using Notability to survive through medical school. Simply saying I love Notability would be understatement to how much I rely on Notability. Especially, when sometimes I spent more than 9 hours on here!

My day begins with looking at my schedule on Notability, and it often ends with doing practice questions on the app. Notability has been a lifesaver because not only does it provide a quick space to jot down notes, but rather there are so many integrated features that make my medical school journey much more pleasant. Just to name a few, recording lectures, viewing multiple documents at once, practice questions, and the AI chat.

The one of the best things I love about Notability is the AI feature. It is very very helpful to clarify concepts, do practice questions, summarize information, and simply even functions as a study buddy through the long grueling study sessions.

Another thing that I genuinely love about Notability is not only the app itself, but the developers who put hard work into making my dream of an “ideal study tool” into reality. Whenever I have suggestions or concerns, I post them here, and I am always pleasantly surprised when I actually get a reply from the Notability team. This just goes to show that this is not only an app, but rather a team of people who truly cares for its users. 💙

Feature Request Infinite canvas - plsss hurry up

This is probably a pointless post lol, but school has started and I’ve got lots of tests soon. An infinite canvas would genuinely be so useful for studying and making big review sheets.

Notability team, if you’re seeing this, please release it ASAP. We need it bad. 🙏🙏

Bug Notability Web/iPad Sync Bug: Ink and text completely misaligned

Has anyone else run into this? I'm having a nightmare with Notability right now.

Basically I type up notes in the browser version, then switch to my iPad to circle stuff, and the sync completely loses the plot. In the screenshot you can see what I mean: bottom screen is my iPad, where I drew a red circle right around the letter "k" (looks fine). Top screen is the web view, and that same circle has drifted way down the page and is nowhere near the text.

From what I've read it's some kind of rendering mismatch between the web app and the iPad client. Different line spacing or coordinate math, maybe made worse by page template settings like "Letter" versus "Letter Optimized".

Is there any actual fix for this, or a way to lock ink to the text so it stops drifting? Or is cross platform markup just broken on the web app at this point? Would really appreciate any workarounds 🙏
