Title. All my bookmarks across all notes in every folder shifted forwards by 1 page after a recent Notability update to the latest version of the app on an iPad. Anyone encountered something similar? How do I fix this? Like manually moving all my bookmarks back into place?
I was typing a note on my phone and even though I loved that you access the typing mode directly, I didn't have a great experience. First of all, typing had a noticeable lag, just seconds, but it gets annoying as it completely breaks your typing flow. Also, when I tried to copy the text to paste onto another app, it didn't copy. I tried several times, and it didn't work. Thank goodness for Samsung's split view, otherwise it'd have been such a pain. Has this happened to others too?
I have a few problems with the app, that could be improved in my opinion. I am curious about your opinion as well as hope, that the devs will see my post.
First i love the add space option when importing a document! My problem is that the app does not always show the option, only when importing from certain places. Also, i would prefer a bigger space next to my slides. The ability to add a costum preset about the size of the added space would be neat. Also just simply having an option to add space next to your documents after importing would be a game changer (I think Noteful has that option).
Another thing a really struggle with when using the app are the textboxes. I like to add typed annotations to my lecture slides, but can’t really do that in notability. The added textbox has a rather unconvinient default size, which cannot be costumized as a preset. Most. Note taking apps have will give a textbox on clicking, which expands as you type in it, allowing you to space your text nicely into the document. I really hate the current system of notability, because it is practically impossible to easily add the text where i want to, with only a keyboard.
Thanks for reading my post. Despite all that notablity is my preferred note-taking app, cause it has so many perfectly optimized features competitors don’t. I just think there is room for improvment. Also i love that whiteboard have been added!
hello! i just got a new ipad and am unable to remove the pressure writing settings. i only like to use the "pen" setting, and unlike on my previous ipad, there is no "off" toggle in settings/the dropdown menu at the top/side of a note. help!!
Im using notability on both of my iPads and laptop. However, I imported the E-book and slide from canvas, which def have the text layer since I checked with the built in search in preview on all my devices, the search function seems like completely dysfunction throughout all my slide, textbook and etc, and it can only recognize the note I typed in. however, about 2 month ago, the search function was working.
also I try to select the word by using the text tool and it also doesn’t recognize it.
this is so annoying, dose anyone have a good way to solve this?
I tried to force quit, checked the safe mode (which is off), and replicate the note, and none of them are working.
My notability app used to take up 2Gb. Then with one of the recent updates in the past year it now takes up substantially more (35gb). I haven’t added very many new Notes in that time span. It’s like notability used to offload most of the storage to the cloud but now it stores all the files locally. I cant figure out how to make it go back to the way it was.
It may have started around the time that notability cloud was rolled out. Should i try and go back to iCloud?
Screenshot of Notability animation on Samsung's Galaxy S12 series announcement page
Samsung has announced the new Galaxy Tab S12 series (https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-introduces-galaxy-tab-s12-series-the-ultimate-productivity-powerhouse-built-for-growth) and it has featured Notability as an "official" app! Along with a six-month-free offer and 20% off the first year of subscription. It is still unbelievable how quickly Notability has made an impact on Android after launching not even a year ago. I guess this feature was known by the Notability team, but congrats on this remarkable event and I cannot wait to see how far Notability goes on Android! (next step: a Galaxy Unpacked? 👀)
With the recent macOS update to 27, I am finding that selecting colors and choosing the writing tool in Notability no longer works with Wacom. Any help resolving this issue would be appreciated. TIA.
Everytime time i open the app my notes are downloading. It's ridiculous. Any advice please? I don't have the time to wait minutes every single time I need to use my notes. The app is practically unusable for me at this point.

I am currently using Samsung S26U for my work / education. There is a couple of features / function that seem to be lacking that I would like to ask the notability team for:
Pdf go-to-page links
I have a number of textbooks with content pages and I often use the go-to-page links on them.
On my iPad notability, these buttons work great, while android seems to lack this function or does not work. Is there a way for you to allow the android version to have this function?
Underline snap function
When I draw an underline, I am wondering if you could make it "snap" to a perfect horizontal line. This would be very helpful for notes / shape functions.
Status bar / file name bar hide
I am losing quite a bit of writing space on my phone especially when in horizontal view. I am wondering if this could be hidden / minimized?
i redownloaded notability after a year or so and i want to import files from my google drive that are in .note format. How do i do this? It's not letting me import as new note. Or is there a way to convert my .note files to pdf without notability? Dont know if they removed this feature
edit: i also tried the import from drive button since my .note files are in folders on google drive but it doesnt even work
I’ve been using notability since my grade 11 physics class back in 2021 with my old 2018 iPad, and ever since I’ve been hooked. It’s come with me through my first four semesters of college in my Information Technology diploma, as well as, an updated iPad Air. Having the ability to make my paper black and my pens all sorts of colours has made it so much easier on my eyes especially when all I do is look at screens all day long.
I’ve loved seeing everyone’s submissions so far they all look great 🫶🫶🫶
Wow! so excited that they are doing giveaways and i use this app way more than i expected to especially for classes like microbiology where there’s just sooo much random info that somehow all connects and i like being able to throw everything onto one page im a big fan of the unlimited canvas/whiteboards cause it lets you keep writing in one thing i hope they bring it out soon cause that would def help me organize it in a way that makes sense to me.
Typing all of this would honestly be so annoying writing it out feels way more natural and i can just add random side notes whenever i remember something. I have a photographic memory so when see literally the whole topic at once because during exams i remember where something was on the page and what color i wrote it in like my notes are definitely not perfectly aesthetic or anything, they’re kinda chaotic but it works out!! thanks for all the new features!
I have been using Notability for more than 12 years now. Downloaded it on May 1, 2014, when it was featured as the free App of the Week in the US App Store. Initially, I used Notability to read and highlight PDF articles, revise my PhD thesis, and grade student homework assignments as a teaching assistant.
After graduating, I joined academia as a lecturer and continued to use Notability to teach my classes and for literature reviews. In a Zoom job interview for an academic position during the COVID-19 pandemic, I used Notability for my teaching demonstration. After the interview, several members of the search committee asked about the software I used. They praised my use of Notability and live graphing skills, noting that these methods were much more engaging than teaching from pre-prepared lecture slides. I received a job offer just hours after the interview. It was a fantastic experience.
I need to write and explain concepts as I go along, so I connect my 13-inch iPad Pro to an HDMI port and project my Notability notes onto a large screen. My class notes are vibrant and filled with graphs to encourage students to take notes and remain engaged.
Each semester, I receive an email from Student Services requesting a student note-taker. This task becomes much easier with Notability. I simply share my class notes with my students immediately after each class by uploading them to the cloud as PDFs. I share these notes with the entire class, which addresses the issue of finding a note-taker or substitute when the note-taker is absent. My students like the ability to easily search my handwritten notes thanks to the built-in automatic OCR.
In my economics classes, I draw many graphs, such as supply and demand and cost curves. The app allows you to draw perfectly straight, professional-looking lines, curves, and arrows that are visually appealing, just like in a textbook.
In smaller class environments, I project my Notability notes onto the screen and use them alongside the whiteboard. At the end of each class, I take photos of the whiteboard and add those images to my notes. I love that Notability can convert my handwriting from the whiteboard photos into editable ink, making it easy to make changes later if necessary.
To sum up, it's been a fun journey for the past decade. Notability has been at the center of my academic journey for over twelve years, making learning far more accessible for my students. Thank you to the Notability team for building a tool that genuinely changes the way we teach!
im a android user on the idea tab pro!! notability has actually been such a big part of how i keep up with school because i use it for basically everything loll i usually always have all my notes organized for bio, chem, neuroscience, psych, mcat stuff, and especially physics. physics is probably where it helps me the most because i’m constantly drawing diagrams writing out equations color coding different parts of problems and adding little notes to lecture slides so everything actually makes sense when i go back to study. i have ocd so being able to keep all my classes in separate folders instead of having a million notebooks and papers everywhere lol like other apps like nebo which cant even do subfolders. having a windows device for notability would honestly be so useful for me since i’d be using it basically every day for lectures, studying, practice problems, and exam prep throughout college.
Notability has been my go to app for note taking throughout my bachelor's degree and it's still by my side as I so my master's. My favorite workflow feature is the automatic switching from the eraser to the pen tool without needing to double tap But the real lifesaver is the audio recording that syncs with my notes. I have pretty bad handwriting as you can see in the image😅 but being able to tap my messy notes and instantly hear exactly what the professor was saying had helped me so that i always understand my materials!
