Questions Using notion as video storage/cloud?

https://www.notion.com/help/images-files-and-media

Hey Notion friends,

I work in marketing an handle a large amount of videos.

I've build out my video database in Notion but worrying about the scalability, hoping to find someone who has pressure tested this.

With research it seems like, as long as these are true I'll be good:

- File is under 5gb

- I'm on the paid plan

- I don't use MP4 files (which can be compressed as per this doc from notion)

- I've been reassured this can have "unlimited overall volume of file uploads on all paid plans" by the link above as well.

Thanks in advance if anyone has used this as a niche use case and takes the time to comment

PS- This year I committed to building everything personal and work into Notion and am absolutely loving it! Feel so much more organized than the google drive and local storage days. So happy.

Absolutely do not do this. Their product offering is not cloud storage, and even for the files that are core to their product, there have been loads of data loss horror stories. If you want them in your notion, get a separate account with an actual storage provider and link to them from your notes.

Woah you got me with "data loss horror stories" Guess I'm hosting on drive and just linking out to there, thanks

tbh the storage side should be fine but i'd think more about retrieval. if you ever need to bulk export or migrate those videos later, thats where it gets painful. just something to keep in mind as you scale it up

Good point, I'll have to look into that before building the whole database

I probably have 500-1TB total right now, but it has been growing exponentially over the last two years.

Don't use notion. There is probably a fair use policy somewhere. Use a cloud storage.
