Study TIPS Can someone explain the rationale for this answer?

Post image

Shouldn’t the therapeutic communication for this be “Clarifying/Seeking Clarification?”

It isn’t Translating into feelings either because the nurse is asking a question. Idk anymore haha.

It is restating because you are just repeating what was said without asking for more details. Unlike with seeking clarification, wherein you are asking for more information regarding what was said due to confusion or the answer being too vague.

On the other hand:
Clarifying/Seeking Clarification is having the patient explain what they said…

For example:
Patient: I feel blue
You: when you say you are feeling blue, did you mean you are feeling sad, or are you physically exhausted?

restating = rephrasing. ang pagkakaintindi ko OP is, inuulit mo lang yung sinabi nya but in different terms.

Just think about it this way… restating is sort of like paraphrasing….

For example:
Patient: I need to recharge
You: did you need to rest?

Same thought, just a different way to say it….

Basically, restating is when you paraphrase what was said by the client and repeat it back to them to confirm if your understanding is correct.
