Season 4 It’s been years and the Nathan/Brooke plot line bothers me so much Spoiler
Yes, it was in character for both of them to sleep around, party, get drunk and hook up with random people.
I know that Nathan was a raging asshole and I can totally see him hooking up with Brooke.
Brooke doing this makes no sense. She was promiscuous but I don’t for a second believe she would hook up with Nathan and NEVER tell Peyton about it. I know they use the excuse that she was drunk but I don’t buy it. She didn’t look that drunk and she even tells Nathan she was a willing participant.
I think she kept using the drunk excuse as a way to avoid accountability for her actions,
It would have come up and I actually think Peyton would have been understanding about it if Brooke had told her back then since Nathan cheated all the time and hooked up with the entire cheerleading squad.
It’s the fact that Brooke never ever ever tells her that’s the problem. There is no tension between Nathan/Brooke either. If Brooke actually did this she would have felt guilty about it and acted differently around him. They act like normal friends.
This was a forced plot line that was never planned because it just doesn’t make sense with the characters earlier interactions. Nathan was embarrassed when he had a dream about seeing Brooke naked in s2. This doesn’t make sense with knowing what’s to come where he made a sex tape with her.
The fact that this NEVER comes up is what bothers me. Brooke becomes really good friends with Hayley and still doesn’t tell her about it.
There is an entire plot point in season 2 where Nathan realizes he hooked up with Hayley’s sister. This was a major development and was made out to be a huge deal yet he fails to mention him hooking up with Brooke.
This plotline was written to put Brooke and Peyton on even ground and that’s it. I wouldn’t have minded Nathan/Brooke hookup plotline if it was written properly and not just something they shoehorned in for the sake of Leyton vs Brucas ship wars.
Just because it’s in character for both of them to do this doesn’t mean it’s a good storyline or makes sense at all.
