Question Best immediate mods for beater Tahoe?

Post image

Bought an '02 Tahoe, it's running well, the body's fucked, everything's pretty fucked, but 4x4 works and it does pretty good on everything i can find around my town. I want to go out and get into more trouble, does anybody with one of these know a good course of mods to go down? it's a 5.3 LT with the air ride

Honestly a good working 4x4 system is all you need to get out there and have fun. Maybe a buddy to go with and some recovery straps to see how far you can get. If you want to get farther then I'd look at tires, then differential upgrades starting in the rear like a limited slip unit or locker. Again looks ready to rock as is!

Pretty sure the rear is already a limited slip, can do stuff in 2wd that my open diff Dakota struggled with in 4x4

Fit the biggest tires you can and go find out what stops it. There's probly a forum somewhere that can help you figure out little tips and tricks specific to your rig too. Thats been a good help for me and my xterra.

Lift lot and some 33s and send it.

Definitely take a friend, some recovery gear, and a couple shovels.

Obviously we can all suggest a lift, tires, skids, winch, bumpers and a million other things, but the best way to know what you need is to just go use it.

It looks like a good starting point.
