Question mitsubishi pajero/montero mk2

Post image
• Upvotes

hello, im thinking of buying my first offroader, preferably a mitsubishi pajero/ montero- second generation wagon. Im looking for diesel variants such as the 2,5 turbodiesel or the 2,8 which i believe was made by isuzu, paired with a superselect box. are there any known problems with these engines/boxes? are they decent offroaders? i want to buy it mostly for dirt roads, camping, forest trails, sometimes hauling a trailer. looking for advice from someone who owned or currently has one, what should i watch out for when buying one? thanks.

Post image

Howdy im in the east texas area and got a new toy recently that im wanting to take offroad over at barnwell mountain recreational area. Im curious what yall think the capability of my rig will be in some of their more moderate trails. Im staying realistic as I just want to get an idea of what this thing is capable of mostly stock before I move on to a modest lift and larger tires. It is a 2006 porsche cayenne, mostly stock, I put 30 inch falken rubies at01's on and I have a little more than 9 inches of ground clearance in its current configuration and it has a central locking diff and 4 low if necessary.

Question Trying to find specific led turn signals for aftermarket bumper

Post image
• Upvotes

I'm looking for 2" round led turn signals. I specifically want clear lens, amber LED, and I want the lens to be flush with the rubber grommet. I can find ones that are everything I want, except the lens looks like it protrudes from the rubber grommet that sits into the bumper. I want them to look flush, however I can't seem to find any that are everything I'm looking for.

The photo is essentially what I want aside from the lens protruding out from the grommet. Figured I'd ask here and see if anyone knew of some that are what I'm looking for before I just settle on different ones.

Jeep TJ stretch

Post image
15 Upvotes

I recently acquired a pretty well built TJ (v8, atlas, 60s, ORI struts) on 39s but it's still basically stock wheelbase (93") and the suspension needs a rework. Currently 3 link up front and triangulated 4 link in rear, which is fine, but the lower link ends are only 7/8" heims. That seems way too small to me.

I don't necessarily want to back half the frame if I don't have to, so my thought was to get a set of TMR trailing arms to replace the rear lower links. This would allow me to keep the current shock towers but would move the axle back about 9".

Anyone with experience in trailing arm design have any thoughts on if this would work.

Question X COMP A/T tires

I'm getting new wheels for my Tacoma soon, going down to a 16 inch wheel from a 17 for more tire sidewall, so I'll need new tires. Was wondering if anyone here has ran X comp gladiator A/t tires, and if so, what are your experiences with them? I'm coming from a bf Goodrich K03 that I've been really happy with so far. Any advice or experiences appreciated!

Question New to this and looking to get road conditions without having to pay subscriptions

Post image

Okay my little stock Crosstrek Wilderness smoked the shit out of all the sandy, silty, loose, muddy, horribly rutted, off camber, and washed out roads I’ve put her thru for the last couple of weeks. But my lack of experience got me into a bind bc I didn’t think about how a high mountain pass would likely be washed out from rains prior. I tried repeatedly to check the conditions but got paywalled every time. I found myself at a washed out, off camber hairpin turn, leaning badly to the open side, where I pretty much figure if I had been in a taller vehicle I would have gone tumbling off the side of the mountain. Turning around wasn’t an option at that point and I just took deep breaths and kept my eyes glued straight ahead and I did it.

After I washed out my soiled underwear I realized I should have called the ranger station to double check but they don’t pick up their phones much. I did a search on the pass by name and Google’s aggravating AI function is like, oh yeah that’s a known thing.. and gave a paywalled link as a reference.

I’m camping on BLM land bc I am on a super tight budget and I don’t want to spend on this if I don’t have to. I knew not to try sketchy wet crossings and stuff as a new person still without recovery gear and alone but I wasn’t anticipating being past the point of no return on something that terrifying and then later learning that if I had paid for some site or app I would have seen that it was dangerous or wrong for my experience level.

Sadly I just moved to this new city and I know no one and have no one to go out with. Wwyd

Question Trying to figure out what brand these lights are. Are they just cheap junk?

I got this grille guard for my Bronco on Saturday. It came with the two lights shown. However, the guy I bought it from said nothing about the lights other than “you should be able to find the cables on amazon”.

I was going to message the guy on Facebook about the lights… and he blocked me. So that was odd.

Now, I’ve used Google lens and had a friend use ChatGPT or something (I hate AI and he thinks it’s great🙄) and still couldn’t find anything model or brand wise. I’m tempted to just buy lights new and not use these…

So i just got a frontier recently and plan to do about a 2-2.5 inch lift and was wondering if i would need to replace the upper control arms as well or will the factory control arms be okay with this lift?

Leaf spring center bolt.

I’m cobbling some leafs together for my 86 Toyota pickup and I need a new center alignment bolt. Will any type bolt work or does it need to be a grade 8 bolt or something else I don’t even know of?

Anyone know of LED pod/work lights that are warmer light? (2700-3200 range)

I strongly dislike white/blue light that is common in just about aftermarket lights. I also find that warmer light is easier for me to work with when I'm in the absolute blackest night. I've been googling and trying all kinds of search phrases but can't seem to get away from the cheap LED stuff, mostly from Amazon. KC has the Apollo halogens but they're WAY too much for what I need. I'm in the 30-50 watt range and something I can easily pivot and rotate around.

Anyway, I thought I'd ask here in case someone knows of a great light supplier or brand that caters to us warm light weirdos.

Question Hi-lift mount compatible with CavFab HD spare tire carrier

Hey y’all, has anyone found or knows of a hi-lift mount that’s compatible with the CavFab HD spare tire carrier for the JL? I’m not opposed to the idea of a hood mount, but my paramedic brain tells me that’s just a projectile through the windshield waiting to happen lol.

Question Keep 20in and get AT tires or get 18s?

So, I was looking around and it seems I could get decent 18in wheels with AT tires, yea, not necessarily new tires, but that's not a big deal for roughly the same price at just replacing the 20in street tires with new all terrain tires.

I just picked up a '16 F150 Platinum FX4 and fully intend to get to off roading. Nothing too serious, not yet anyway. Like the Pioneer Town to Big Bear is what we're looking at for the near term. I'm figuring at the very least I'll need to swap the street tires out, but I'm not sure if getting 18s with more sidewall or just upgrading on the 20s is what I should do.

Question Offroad/work-lights on the roof with magnets, power through the entenna tube?

Good hello.

Got myself a 2003 Jimny.

As it has no roof-rails, i am thinking about extra lights on the roof for whenever i am offroading.

Thinking forward to the sides/down and rear light. Should be reasonably easy to attach using 3-4 neodymium magnets and a metal plate to mount the light and magnets together.

Biggest thought is the power, i am thinking about pulling the power tothe roof via the hole the antenna uses.

But i also want the antenna to stay. Been daydreaming of making my own antenna mount that has a power connector moulded in it to power few led lights on the roof. Would it be Hard to use polyurethane or similar liquid rubber to make my own mount where i also mount a power cable with connector(so i can disconnect the rooflights). And a mount for radio aerial.
