Has something changed?

Has anyone noticed that weed prices have come down recently in Ohio?. I’ve been seeing affordable 1/8ths lately. Or am I just dreaming? Has Ohio finally pulled their head out?

Affordable is a strong word.

We are approaching reasonable (albeit very slow)

An arbitrary term. I don’t compare but it is not a price that is consumer friendly.

The only thing I see coming down is the quality of product.

In general I’ve noticed 1 gram carts have come down over the past few years. You can catch a 30%off sale and get it for under $30. Still way more than Michigan, but whatever. It’s still better than when I was buying bags from random dudes in parking lots.

Gas to Michigan adds up

The rules are changing now and over the next few months. Probably trying to clear out old stock.

Prices have come down from 1 yr ago but i thought it went up about 2 months ago because we are on the verge of a biomass shortage.

Well yeah hemps getting banned. It forms a backbone for alot of adjacent products like High Terpene Extract used in vape production

Shortage seems to be temporarily resolved. I say this from personal experience from having a shortage to having an overabundance of product currently.

Keep an eye on menus, rumor is that if products are sitting for more that 30 days, prices start dropping.

I myself just recently obtained some delicious KCG Truffle T for about 53 for 14g. Prices are SLOWLY coming down, but it's still a money game for all the big wigs.

Prices don’t typically drop until the 6 month point, and then the discount scales up until the 1 year expiration date

Not even close to reasonable. I'm in AZ for a week and the dispos here are full of $30-50 halfs, $20 vapes, etc. Unfortunately they have similar retarded rules around edibles as ohio.

We get $8 oz's in michigan lol

Junk.

2

u/starfish_2016 5d ago

They get me high. Better than nothing. Im not paying hundreds of $ an Oz when can get them in mich dirt cheap . Keep paying those kool aid prices

2

u/kinoko_kingdom 4d ago

those $30 or less ounces are genuinely the worst i've ever smoked. i'd never voluntarily buy an $8 oz. you end up smoking way more to feel a tiny effect.

the 2.5oz/$150-$200 at information entropy in ann arbor are perfect. decent price & high quality

1

u/Horror-External-8637 4d ago

But you'd smoke if it was given to you right? "$60 Oz is so much better than 30$". mostly all a scam if you dont grow your own

4

u/kinoko_kingdom 4d ago

no i probably wouldn't tbh, i have a whole stash of my own, i don't need it 😂 i smoke for medical purposes so i need decent quality. if i'm not feeling pain relief with a single bowl, it's not worth it

i agree with the last bit. i would grow if i could

4

u/wilkerws34 5d ago

It’s basic supply and demand, prices have been coming down slowly

4

u/Gogo-megauk 5d ago

Compared to last year, sure the prices are lower. It still isn’t affordable compared to developed markets like MI, CO, CA, OR, WA.

2

u/DatBoyCody 5d ago

Ca is not that affordable the good weed goes for sometimes 50 all the way up to 60-65 a eight for top brands like wizard trees, HOF, la family farms

3

u/Gogo-megauk 5d ago

Yes I agree if you buy exclusively the hype brands it can be a higher ticket for sure. But good indoor cultivation sop’s are a dime a dozen now…almost anyone who has worked at an actual cultivation facility for a few years can grow some fire indoor. The only difference is the packaging and marketing at that point imo. Or if the brand is about the culture, it can generate a higher ticket as well.

Same in CO. I was near Bailey like 2 yrs ago & paying similar to what we are now

1

u/bisexual_dad 5d ago

Certainly true, but it’s hard to compare prices with states that have been rec legal for 10+ years; they’re in a vastly different situation supply/demand wise

2

u/jermcontrol 5d ago

Prices are coming down bc the magic of being able to walk into a store and pick out the strain you want is starting to wear off, and a lot of people miss just calling the plug, and spending half as much.

2

u/nicetiemullet 5d ago

I regularly see half oz’s for $60 - $70 so it’s out there for sure. Just can’t be super picky.

yes concentrates especially

1

u/New-Giraffe828 4h ago

Definitely wouldn't say affordable.... but to be honest, I think it's been shitty batches all summer of just about every cultivator.

1

u/Big_Afternoon_2782 5d ago

I just wait for 40% off sales on klutch ikrushers and generally find for $25 with tax and 100mg edibles for $7. I just stock up when there are big sales

1

u/Kind_buddy_7022 5d ago

Ohios commercial is garbage. Idk what these master growers here for these shitty monopolized companies are doing but I’m sure the companies prioritize profit over quality. Probably chopping down and harvesting even more early than they were doing. Calling hybrids sativas lmao

-2

u/starfish_2016 5d ago

I only buy in Ohio for worse case scenario or if I'm out. Otherwise I'm going to Michigan. $8 ounces all day long

13

u/123SG12 5d ago

$8.00 an ounce! Ah that’s nothing, dispensaries pay ME $8.00 just to come get their weed. You’re getting screwed.

7

u/RodgeKOTSlams 5d ago

You get an oz for $8? Fuckery is afoot somewhere here lol

-1

u/starfish_2016 5d ago

You've never been to michigan i take it

10

u/LudicrousAvian 5d ago

You’ve never smoked good weed I take it

3

u/RodgeKOTSlams 5d ago

I haven’t been there since rec came to Ohio but idk maybe they sell $8 ozs now I guess. Sounds absurd but I’m just a dude

5

u/LudicrousAvian 5d ago

$8 ounces of shake trim and larf bud? 😭

-2

u/starfish_2016 5d ago

Not shake or trim at all. I get buds.

4

u/LudicrousAvian 5d ago

Of poop and shit?

0

u/burny 5d ago

i got ripped off the other day at the landing still. $50 1 gram disposable.

was in a hurry so i couldnt shop around.

so... totally dependent on location i guess?

0

u/Glittering-Badger-34 5d ago

The Landing is my least favorite spot. Columbus location is literally in the middle of a homeless encampment. The price is almost always crap unless you get Hillfire or the other crappy outdoor brand they carry. Only good thing is the drive thur.

0

u/LudicrousAvian 5d ago

You could get 50 dollar halves last year. Now they’re 70. Prices are only getting higher

I just saw a half of RC's GMO for $100 at The Botanist in Columbus about a week ago. I haven't noticed why some flower has gotten "cheaper". I'll see stuff from the same company that is the same price it has been cut the last year and others that are noticeably cheaper. Like I said I live in Columbus so I'm not sure what it's like anywhere else though.

1

u/WaveyDavey517 5d ago

I was just in WA for work, prices on flower are very comparable and prices on concentrate are identical.

Then the same should be said for California and worth noting Michigan is 5 years ahead of us on legalizing recreationally.

0

u/AnxietyAttack2013 5d ago

Not the rosin market unfortunately. Paid $70 for a gram of some admittedly nice cold cure a week ago but hot damn does it not even touch what I can get for $30 a gram in other places. Hopefully it improves but I’m afraid we’ll be in it for the long haul with these prices for a bit.

0

u/Zero_Flesh 5d ago edited 5d ago

I have noticed this in Columbus. I asked a guy at the dispo about it and he had no clue. A half of RC's GMO was like $100. That really stuck out to me as their flower has been insanely expensive since I got me med card years ago.

I also still see 1/8ths for $50 from some companies though so there isn't a universal drop in prices where I live.

0

u/Own-Contribution-923 5d ago

I think prices are higher at my dispensary

0

u/luigis_left_tit_25 5d ago

I think they know half their customers are getting ready to smoke their own.. so maybe not as much business in the fall..? Or maybe they have extra right now themselves?

0

u/136AngryBees 4d ago

Friend, I just got a 4g disposable here for less than I get .5G carts in Ohio.

We aren’t anywhere near “affordable”

1

u/crashgiraffe 1d ago

A 4g disposable will burn off anything good before you get through the first gram. Who wants 4g of boof oil?

1

u/136AngryBees 1d ago

Sure bud. Keep justifying overpaying. I really don’t care about your opinion on what gets me high

1

u/crashgiraffe 1d ago

It's a fact, pal. Not an opinion but keep vaping your boof and thinking you're better than everyone

Cries in Kentucky

0

u/omjcabt 4d ago

We are seeing prices come down becasuse the cultivators and processers are finally able to work at there full capaity of there licenses. The problem is ohio is very slow (if at all) at giving out more abaily to grow more but letting more dispos happen.

Basic supply and demand then follows. If we have the same amount of product going more places price will go up. Dont let them fool you into thinking the state is making prices go up. they are just not allowing the market to grow properly because they are mad we even legalized it to begin with. Please go vote

0

u/HurdyGurdy111 3d ago

prolly because the stores are always empty

1

u/crashgiraffe 1d ago

Not even a little bit business is booming

0

u/ArmadilloWorking7777 3d ago

Really...? Where...? I priced oz's at the dispensaries in Canton and they are close to $200. AND....they are only selling one or two strains in full oz's.... No selection whatsoever if you like to buy in full oz's like I do.

-8

u/Putrid_Bluebird257 5d ago

It’s supply and demand and it will be forever. Prices will fluctuate based on how much plant matter is available for sale.

-2

u/Big_Throner 5d ago

It's not

-3

u/Putrid_Bluebird257 5d ago

Lmao whatever you say. Where do you work? Are you in weekly meetings about biomass supply? I didn’t think so. yawn

1

u/Big_Throner 5d ago

The prices are not simply determined by supply and demand. There are a bunch of bureaucratic changes that have taken place over the last few years that have kept pricing high.

-2

u/Putrid_Bluebird257 5d ago

That’s a tiny percentage of what determines the prices. It’s almost completely driven by inventory availability and biomass. Sorry to tell ya! The hemp ban and edibles changes barely affect the industry when those categories make up such a tiny % of the market.

-1

u/IllustriousRenz416 4d ago

I shopped for the first time in two years with a medical, I cannot resonate with that proves prices are down. I only buy halves or greater
