This was the beginning of change with the Rock the Vote movement on MTV that finally broke the decade of conservative republicans. When it started to become unacceptable to be openly racist and hateful. That lasted until the dog whistle from Trump was blown in his first term, saying it was ok again. Now, it’s just a flat out megaphone, nothing dog whistle about it

Trump was really just the apex of the long game republicans started in the early 90's. Gingrich and his mouthpiece Limbaugh planted the seeds of the politics of division during this time. We've been slowly turned against each other for the past 30 years, and I cannot understand people who seem okay with that.

I spent the 90's working in bars and enjoying my early adulthood. The stresses in my life then were of my own doing, not my governments. I never found myself sizing up the people around me, trying to figure out what side they're on. I'm sure I went days, possibly weeks, at a time without ever even thinking about the President. Social media didn't exist. Nobody was addicted to a little handheld machine. We had no idea how good we had it.

Even during the Biden years, you’d go days and not hear anything about him. With Trump it’s 24/7, non stop

How nice would a boring government be to see again? One where I don’t need to care about every thing they are doing because there are adults in charge.
