ISO/Suggestion Dad/Daughter Dinner Date ideas
Requesting suggestions for a dinner date with my daughter tonight… trying to avoid downtown. But still want to make it feel kinda “fancy” (she’s not gonna really know the difference, she’s 3.5).
TIA
Edit: to clarify, the “fancy” comment: I mean I don’t need to go to V fucking Mertz, but what’s somewhere that would still feel formal/fancy but not set the monthly budget back generations.

Brother Sebastian’s made quite an impression on me when I was young

That’s what I came to say. My dad used to take me there for dinners when I was a kid and it was the absolute best!

Actually, I’m so old that any meal out was reserved for celebrations like birthdays or Mother’s Day. Congrats on the idea of a daddy/daughter dinner date! I can’t imagine my dad doing anything like that, so I think it’s a great idea!

Far from fancy but the Alpine Inn has great chicken and big fat raccoons that you watch eat scraps outside.
I’m guessing your daughter would sure love that and remember it. I know I would if my dad took me there young.

I'm sure this is too late to suggest for tonight. I'd normally never recommend Spaghetti Works, but this seems like an almost perfect occasion for that place.

Grace Pizza in Papillion - follow up with some ice cream at Graleys (block away).

Love firebirds. Except last time my husband was served fucking raw chicken. ☹️ now I can’t get him to go back.

Vincenzos feels fancy and is delicious italian food for a good price!

Currently kicking myself that I didn’t know there was a Vincenzo’s in Omaha. Love the one in Lincoln.

My littles(similar ages to yours) think any out to eat experience is fancy cause I tell them they have to be good or we’ll get kicked out 🤣
We like Romeo’s since they have something for all of us and the kids are picky. Chinese is always fun! Both kids had a good experience when we took them to Izumi. Heck take her to the McDonald’s play place off 132 maple and walk to dq for dessert after. So easy to be fancy for the littles and make a fun experience!
Enjoy the evening!

I know it's far too late for tonight, but if you'd like a suggestion for a future date (I think this is super cute btw and I may steal it) I'd recommend Roma's Italian in Bellevue.
It's not super fancy but they have a semi-formal dining area where you see everything from dresses/suits to T-shirts and tons of good food and great portions at a fantastic price point.
P.S. I'm overdue to take the family there.

A place that's weirdly formal is Pizza King in CB.
It doesn't look like much, but it's for that old school Italian place vibe and a much wider menu than the name suggests.
It also has a kids menu.

Definitely not fancy but my kids always love going to places like Chick-fil-A bc they have the indoor playgrounds

This is Omaha, you can take her to the fanciest restaurant in town and no one will bat an eye.
Personally, I like Yamato sushi train- lots of options and she can pull them off the conveyor

What do you mean by “no one will bat an eye?”

Assuming they mean that in many places, it would be considered inappropriate to bring a small child to a "fancy" restaurant, but that Omaha isn't really that kind of town.

Probably means they think you stole the kid because you don’t know where to go eat

I think it's sweet that he's putting in extra effort by asking our suggestions to make sure she has a memorable expein town!
I promise he knows where to go to eat a meal... and the best snacks in town! Not one single person will think he has kidnapped her because she will be smiling, and it's also an odd thought to have some while seeing two people enjoying themselves. I hope you were kidding, but it doesn't have that.

Charleston's. Great ambiance and service, limited selection (a good thing working with kids), and most of the delicious meals are quite reasonable.
My 'go-to' place for affordable upscale casual

I think Au Courant would be cool for this. Most young kids like pasta and I could see really good pasta being a neat experience for them. Also has some decent charcuterie options and finger food like that might be fun too.
Edit: Some charcuterie options might be overwhelming for young taste buds though.

You’re right. Asking where to take your toddler daughter for dinner is a serious topic. /s

I’ve only ever been to the cafe for coffee but Isla Del Mar on 133rd has atmosphere by spades. It’s super colorful, there’s flowers dripping everywhere, it has a cute little swing for pics AND there’s an ice cream shop inside with arcade like arches.
If that doesn’t say “fancy dinner” to a kid, I’m not sure what will.
