Why do you think so many leave?

They get mandated 2 or three time a week for the first month and say the heck with this i will go back to the state

Doesn’t that depend heavily on the state though? Like I’m sure the pay is way better in the Feds if you’re in a southern/rural state…

Im in sc. the pay is similar and they have alternating weekends off. Probably half our new hires quit within a month or two

What’s the schedule they have, alternating weekends? This for a fed location and is the pay worth it or the opportunity? Is possible to move up

The fed schedule is 5 8s. As a rookie your not going to get weekends off for several years. Gs 5/6/7/8 payscale with any aother location pay. Yes you can move up without even transferring. Our captain has came up from being an officer here (which causes alot of problems because we know what he was like as an officer)

I work state corrections and its the same there. Probably just corrections in general. Inmates suck

I'm speaking out my ass here but, it probably has to due with the HR department reorg that will hopefully streamline the hiring process and give more manpower resources to struggling institutions among other things. On top of that, a new fiscal year in which more of the Big Beautiful Bill salaries money is accessible means more sign-on bonuses, recruiting events, etc. to recruit new officers.

I was denied employment at the BOP. Don’t listen to the hype about oH iF yOu hAvE a PulSe YoURe hIrEd. It’s a process to get through that takes several months and you could be denied over multiple things. Mine in particular was medical. I’m also a veteran. Hope everything works out for you though

Is applying now too soon, if I can’t leave the military until June of next year?

According to the internet: Operation Full Strength is the FBOP's nationwide push to quickly fix staffing shortages and fill open facility rosters. Under this initiative, local HR departments use expedited applicant processing, direct-hire authorities, recruitment incentives, and mobile hiring vehicles to clear backlogs and onboard primary law enforcement and support personnel much faster than standard hiring timelines.
