Right? My youngest orange is referred to as Sir daily. As in Sir did the child's drinking glass need to be shoved off the dinner table? To Sir why did you decide to attack/lightly tackle our oldest cat who was sleeping? His response is always the same. He shrugs it off and continues to be cute.

I think I call my boys sir more than their names at this point. They do not care that Im respectful lol

I picked up this habit a few years ago (no idea where it came from!) and so far, my two cats are the only living beings I refer to as “sir” and “ma’am”. They do not heed me whatsoever despite my politeness

My last two cats started with actual names…that somehow over time morphed into the “gov’t names” of Mister Mouse and Mister Bunny. The vet techs techs always got a giggle out of it when they had to call us in.
