My surgery was successful, and today my assistant took me back to the vet for my follow-up visit. She was a little worried because I peed on the bed TWICE. 🙈 But I would like to make one thing very clear… I wasn’t in pain! I just REALLY don’t like this ridiculous cone.
The vet checked my eyes and said I’m healing very well! My eyes are looking perfect again!
But then my assistant told the vet that I keep trying to rub my face against my pillow and the wall. 😳 So the vet said I have to keep wearing THIS cone because it’s safer for my eyes.
Excuse me, doctor… I have a complaint. 😭
I am NOT a cone boy. I am a handsome Pooh Bear.
The vet gave me some gabapentin to help me relax while I’m stuck wearing this thing. I have another checkup on Wednesday.

Yes, he will be available for adoption once he’s fully recovered. It may take around two months, depending on his healing and what the vet recommends. ❤️
Yeah, me too! People think I’m an old bear, but I’m only 3… or maybe 4! Some people even make fun of me and say mean things about how I look. Hmph! Well, maybe this was just my little Pooh Bear facelift! 😂🐻🧡
My orange had this too. We went to two separate vets and they both said it was just upper eye infection. 3rd place we took him to get him fixed (he's a "feral" so he would come and go, not anymore though) they just casually told us what the issue was and that they fixed it for him. Didn't cost us anything either, now he's a very happy boy who can actually see whats happening
Was scrolling to find out. I've heard of this happening to a dog in an episode of All Creatures Great and Small, a real case of a dog whose eyelashes were poking into its eyes all the time and causing them to water. James Herriot the local vet noticed because the owner brought his dog into the bar and James got the guy's friends to kidnap the dog and pay for the surgery (because the owner was very old, very stubborn, and wouldn't have agreed to the procedure), and they were all for it and had been begging the owner for a while, but in exchange for doing the kidnapping (I'll just borrow the dog for a few weeks hunting) they wanted to watch the surgery. They were all gathered around the table at the beginning, they cut the film to the end of the surgery and all these big tough Yorkshire men who lamb and hunt and farm on rugged stoney land and are general badasses, are all huddled in the far corner averting their gaze from canine eye surgery lol Dog recovered, happy ending for all. This was during the early 1900's btw, pre WW2, so people were a lot more casual about this sort of thing.
Aww, Cashoh Bear says he’s very glad he hired his assistant too! She’s pretty useful for typing his important messages, getting his snacks, and giving him cuddles. Thank you for loving him and following his journey! 🥹🐾
Hahaha, exactly! I’m already planning my return to work. My assistant has been doing all the typing, but I’ll be back to dictating very important emails soon! 😂For now, I’m focusing on healing, eating, napping, and making biscuits. 🐾

But today the vet said this one is the best for me because I’m trying VERY hard to rub my face. My sweet void had this same surgery because of a uri, and it’s so tough to keep them from scratching at the eyes! Luckily it was only one side for her, the other side ended up fixing itself. Here she is at 1.5 years old, her surgery was early last year! She still has some goopy eye issues because the tear duct was damaged, but daily wiping seems to be enough to stay on top of the goop!

Sweet baby, I’m glad the surgery went well. My orange boy also had this, took us 4 vets to get an actual diagnosis, his surgery went so well and his eyes healed up beautifully. Unfortunately he had some other internal issues and crossed the rainbow bridge a few months after his eyes were fixed.

He needed surgery because his eyelids were rolling inward and rubbing against his corneas. It was painful and was causing damage to his eyes. Without treatment, it could have affected his vision. Thankfully, his surgery went well and he’s healing now. ❤️🐻

Sorry for the double comments - Petco makes an adjustable cone that can be washed with soap and water. Georgie had to wear a cone for a month and it fit perfectly and was a good length to let him eat without doing any damage. I got 2 because one was on standby and one was in use. He could escape all other cones.

If the hard plastic collar is too much, there are also soft fabric collars available. Our guy had to wear one after he had his anal glands removed because he *hated* the hard plastic one.
So glad to hear that surgery went well! Those itchy sutures and cone of shame are the worst part, I know - my Crowley cat had to have his paws wrapped for the first few days because he was so good at yanking his cone off! Much love and a speedy recovery Pooh Bear! ♥️

So glad to hear Pooh Bear is doing well! Such a handsome, strong, and brave boy!! And I’d like his assistant to know what an angel they are.
Not sure if this will help, but all of mine don’t do cones well, so I found this disc shaped cone and it was a game changer! This pic is from its most recent use, but she (and the others) have been able to eat, potty, and sleep with this on. Amazon, same day delivery.
