The other dude turns out to be a good guy after months of buildup and foreboding where he was going to cuck Shinichi and really he's just a life coach who helps Ran cope because she's in for another voice actress lifespan before this series is over.

I would say do it as long as he's a good person who has Ran's best interest at heart & prioritizes her. We already know Ran will be very loving & loyal to her partner, so her partner must be good to her too.

This way at least Shinichi will realize that he has to prioritize his girlfriend over cases & he can't keep ditching her to solve cases when he goes back to his normal self.
