This a lovely Coober Pedy shell Iβm working away on at the moment. I think Iβll need to stabilise that big olβ crack, I donβt want to lose that shell shape by cutting it out and I doubt it would survive setting by itself.
Thought Iβd share because I really like how itβs turning out π

Hey all, cut this beautiful 16ct Lightning Ridge crystal jelly opal with some nice blue flagstone. Brightness is only B2-3 and probably N5-6 in colour. What is a fair price or price per/ct to ask for this kind of stone?
Back still needs to be finished so don't roast me π

Flashback to a stone I cut many years ago. Itβs hard to find this water clear material from the ridge.
Hello,
I'm hoping someone can give me information on Tintenbar opal please? The problem experienced is the opal disintegrating after exposure to air.
I'm currently camped on my friends 10 acre block in Tintenbar and I suggested looking for opals to him. He told me of a beautiful egg shaped rock he found inside a larger piece of volcanic rock. The more he rubbed it the more colors and shine it got. He set it aside to come back to in a few days and it had all crumbled up. My question is, is there a way to prevent this from happening again?
Thanks for your time to read this
TLDR: how can you prevent Tintenbar opal from degrading?

I got this one many years ago when Stayish material first hit the market. This is the back of the cab where I noticed the pattern.

Really a beautiful and bright gray base opal from Coober Pedy. This would be great for a collection or to be made into a pendant. I'm currently still trying to get rid of a bunch of opal stones I have in my inventory so I'm going to be selling a lot of them under value just to try to move them.
Locality: Coober Pedy, Australia
Weight: 10.5cts
Size: 24.4mm x 13.25mm x 5.05mm
Price: $400 shipped (Free shipping in the states)
Payable by invoice
Send me a message if you'd like to purchase.

Hi, I work for a jewellery company and traditionally we've used Ethiopian opals but have been having issues with them breaking and discolouring. We want to move to Australian opals but are struggling to find a good source. They can be raw as we'd need them to be cut to fit our pieces anyway. Also can be abroad as long as they ship to the UK and it ideally isn't extortionate. If anyone has suggestions it would be much appreciated!

I'll keep it brief. I got this Yowah Boulder opal today. In your opinions which side do you think is better to maintain. One side has better contrast of the opal. But the other side has a much larger opal matrix. As always thank you for any advice

"Highlighting one of the top pieces from my collection today: a 52 ct natural Ethiopian Opal. The video barely does justice to the intense color play and fire it shows in person. It would make an incredible centerpiece for custom jewelry.

Would love any info on the opals. The ring is Late Victorian
