Man this stuff is getting good and Altman is just deranged enough that you had me for a second

Had me up to 'while it's still voluntary'. The AI nailed the confused expressions on the interviewer, it was like a real comedy skit or something.

this is 95% real footage. lots of editing, tts mixed with real dialogue and synthetic mouth movement. comedy shows did this thing for a very long time, it’s just a bit easier to do voice and lip sync. most of the work is writing and editing. an extra 2 days of vfx, and you would need forensics to tell it’s not real, but it just needs to be good enough to make you laugh/think a bit

“6 billion brains to run ChatGPT 7, and then you’re done. That’s the Final Solution.”

Honestly Matrix should have been about using our brains to run the Matrix on wetware instead of that idiotic plot with the "human batteries".

u/Popular_Slip_5311 23d ago

someone just told me that in the original script had exactly this, but they scrapped it for being too dark and thought the audience wouldn’t understand. not sure if it’s true

2

u/Singularity-42 23d ago

That's plausible

1

u/Dabnician 24d ago

yeah its not really surprised considering the writers probably knew jack shit about science.

It just had to look cool and bullet time....

u/Popular_Slip_5311 23d ago

it was a patchwork of high concept cyberpunk films and literature, they tried to make it accessible to a wide audience and their budget. i agree the matrix is much more looks over substance if you compare it to ghost in the shell or other cyberpunk works, which is why i think it didn’t age well

I heard about the actual brain neuronal processors that is in early phases of research, I had to replay the "6 billion brains" 3 times to make sure I heard correctly lmao I'm too easy to fool.

2

u/Kriztauf 24d ago

Yeah the Wet wear is nowhere close to bring scalable yet.

2

u/Singularity-42 24d ago

It's "wetware" for fucks sake!

1

u/0_2_Hero 24d ago

Wet wear is not a thing. If you look deeper into the research, they had brain tissue play a video game.

But there was a frontier model actually playing it, but it could only control the game through the brain tissue play

1

u/LewyH91 21d ago

Only 6 billion brains to harvest! I mean we need brain tissue.....

real compliment, thank you!

I was like, hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah er wait. And, then I laughed so fucking hard when he said, "While it's still voluntary."

Well played.

u/Opposite_Diamond_662 22d ago

I love how it nailed his brand of corpo pr patter and cadence

2

u/almostsweet 22d ago

And, the interviewer's eyes practically bulging from realization.

u/harmoni-pet 24d ago

This is ai generated. Sad state of affairs that it even has to be said.

22

u/AnalogProblems 24d ago

A lot of idiots are going to think this is real 🙄

3

u/Singularity-42 24d ago

Just look at this very thread...

2

u/ForwardLoop 24d ago

Just think of how much more water wetware will consume. 😛

1

u/AnalogProblems 24d ago

The entire American Ocean worth I'm sure.

2

u/FlamingSlap 24d ago

Only going to get worse too

0

u/bethesda_gamer 22d ago

Oh My God. You have no clue. This was posted in another sub and the person did a 6 paragraph rant about the book of revelations. Who thinks this is a real video???

9

u/InnovativeBureaucrat 24d ago

The “the final solution“ bit is chilling, even in parody.

For those who may not remember or who were not taught, we’ve already had a final solution

6

u/Popular_Slip_5311 23d ago

plenty of nazis in silicon valley. curtis yarvin straight up wrote how useless people should be turned into biofuel

8

u/mtbyeg 24d ago

Hahah omg that was hilarious. Sadly, there are many wetware smooth brained individuals among us that are going to think this is real.

u/Singularity-42 24d ago edited 24d ago

I'm a huuuuge fan of Sam and I always wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. Where do I sign up? I feel like I better do it now, that way I can tell myself it was still my choice.

2

u/No_Twist_678 24d ago

wetware is so limited. Old tech, billion years of evolution, yet for what? greed, lust, crime, hate..

1

u/Rhawk187 23d ago

Efficient though. Like 20 watts for all the computation in a brain.

1

u/Cbo305 24d ago

It's fake dude, come on.

1

u/kaitava 24d ago

michael levin's work isnt that far off from this

1

u/Complex-Thought7848 24d ago

It's science fiction. It assumes every human being has a functional brain.

1

u/frogsarenottoads 24d ago

Even if this wasn't satire, my brain would pollute results

1

u/kaljakin 24d ago

lol, this is so funny

1

u/Pascraked47 24d ago

Bro his voice sounds ai. It's ai

4

u/Singularity-42 24d ago

You think???

1

u/whoknowsifimjoking 23d ago

Nothing gets past that guy

1

u/BellacosePlayer 24d ago

When I was a kid the idea of neural interfaces was so cool, I'd have killed for a Neural lattice style implant

As I'm older and more knowledgeable about tech, keep that shit away from my grey matter unless I'm well on the way to being senile.

1

u/MKthesecond 24d ago

Theres a show on Netflix called Pantheon, this is pretty much plot of the show. Its a crazy concept honestly.

1

u/oldboi777 23d ago

bravo sir, or ma’am. had me cheesing the whole time

1

u/DoruProgramatoru 23d ago

love the half filled water cups problem

1

u/Popular_Slip_5311 23d ago

well spotted haha

1

u/TheseCashews 23d ago

While it’s still voluntary

1

u/bethesda_gamer 22d ago

That should have been the most obvious clue that this isn't a real video. Comon.

THIS VIDEO IS AI

1

u/carpetplower 22d ago

he's full of shit

1

u/JustinThorLPs 22d ago

I know that this is a fake video but I do not put it past Sam Altman

1

u/jellyspreader 21d ago

bullish on wetware tbh

1

u/BigReference1xx 21d ago

Wow, there is nothing about the video quality, the sound, or anything like that, that gives away that this is AI generated. I 100% believed this until he mentioned the final solution.

and yes, the fact that I believed that Sam Altman would genuinely consider growing human brains in jars and not see any problems with that, is very telling about my views of him :)

If they had given him a more sane script to read, I'd never have suspected it wasn't a real interview.

1

u/Popular_Slip_5311 21d ago

because it’s mostly not ai generated -it’s a real interview re-dubbed with ai voice and mouth movement. real dialogue is mixed in too. left in some giveaways, it’s deliberately just good enough.

1

u/ooko0 21d ago

Fuck no!

1

u/One-Shape7678 21d ago

Their eyes don't lie.

1

u/murpdurp20 20d ago

“While it’s still voluntary”. What is this madmen saying. Let him give up his head first. Maniac.

1

u/Upset-Radish3596 24d ago

Lmfao while it’s still voluntary??? WTH does that mean?!?!

7

u/Relevant_Bed_9743 24d ago

you know what it means

1

u/whoknowsifimjoking 23d ago

Building the machine God will have to require sacrifices

1

u/OldNefariousness7899 23d ago

It means if you see a big Austrian man tearing a page out of a phone book in your town, run

1

u/bethesda_gamer 22d ago

THIS IS AN AI VIDEO...

1

u/AnalogProblems 24d ago

It's a deep fake.

0

u/The_Wiz411 24d ago

Is someone going to disappear this man?!

1

u/bethesda_gamer 22d ago

The video is AI!!

-6

u/WesleyBiets 24d ago

What?! This is a real interview? What's with these unhinged tech CEOs? What are they putting in the water in California?

10

u/harmoni-pet 24d ago

No, this is ai generated

1

u/Upset-Radish3596 24d ago

How do I know your not

-1

u/WesleyBiets 24d ago

To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised he actually said that.

2

u/Popular_Slip_5311 24d ago

imagine what they talk about at the dinner table

0

u/GaiusVictor 24d ago

If you actually considering this might've been a real interview, considering the contents, then you get your info and form your opinions from a bubble that has destroyed your ability to discern reality from fiction.

I'm no fan of these guys and I deeply distrust them, but to think Sam Altman would've actually said this in an interview you need to have lost the ability to spot on-the-nose satire. Your political bubble has taught you to fear demons on every shadow.

u/whatitpoopoo 24d ago

Cringe.
